Last month, I came across this visually stunning design from @Wattenberger. When I invited her on the podcast, I thought we were going to talk about how she creates these impressive stories (and we did). But I was not prepared for how deep she was into the future of software work. Be prepared for one of the most philosophical and nerdy conversations about building software with AI and the future of building software. This was a dope conversation.

THIS IS HOW YOU TELL A STORY 👏 An absolute banger by @Wattenberger * with compliments to @_jshmllr for putting me on game.

As agents handle more of the spec-to-code loop, the challenge shifts to preserving intent across systems that never stop evolving. @Wattenberger of @augmentcode will be at Write-Only Code Summit on May 7 in SF → luma.com/write-only-cod…

New in Diffs—experimental token hooks! That means you can build awesome features like contextual token popovers, like in this new demo on our homepage that pulls in and builds on VS Code's own CSS language service to add info to selectors, at-rules, properties, and more.

@Wattenberger Ah, AI chat? Agreed. People like to pretend AI can do everything, which doesn’t help.

@hobdaydesign just in general - presenting users with a blank chat input is just as "black box" as command palettes. without the instant search matching

I agree with this, although if 1. I have rich ui taking up >80% of the space within a chat thread, and 2. I don't usually want my first touch ui with my usual apps to be chat, at some point it crosses the threshold away from "chat is the interface" into "chat is just part of the ui", don't you think?

@Wattenberger But what do you think of generative UIs? I think all of your ideas can live on the chat as well. I see the chat not as fully replacing every other UI but giving the user an unstructured way to access them more naturally

@Wattenberger CLI is very precise though. You get the flags and parameters you get, and nothing else.

I love the new @reve landing page. It really shows the power of a vertically integrated model and app. reve.com
