@PlumbNick Keep digging. Indian 'consulting' firms have been a cottage industry affecting all State of Texass agencies. The Dept. of Information Resources (DIR) is the gateway through which they all pass. Gov. HotWheels gets kickbacks from them.

Last update was on HHSC contracts and very limited data. Now that I have a few more agencies contracts pulled in, I can safely say in 2026, across a handful of agencies, we are spending at least $20M a month on IT staffing augmentation contracts that appear to be going to non-citizens. Often these contracts are for very common tech sector functions which should not be hard to find. Here's a recent example from the Texas Railroad Commission. On 3/10/26 a solicitation was emailed to the approved ITSAC vendor list (almost all of which wouldn't be able to operate without foreign labor) seeking a Database Architect. On 4/10/26 the contract was awarded to the vendor at a rate of $161 per hour. ($334k per year). The vendor who was awarded the contract has a strong history of H1B use, so much so that you can even find them advertising benched consultants on known H1B labor boards (at a rate of $75 an hour). Are these staffing contractors really getting $86 an hour cut? Can the state really not hire someone to do this without relying on vendors? Does the state have any requirements for American placement on contracts? Does the state vet our vendors? Should I keep digging? @bofrench @GregAbbott_TX

America invests hundreds of billions training its own citizens. Public universities, research grants, apprenticeships, taxpayer dollars building engineers, doctors, and scientists who then compete on merit. Companies have successfully lobbied to to make it cheaper to bypass their own citizens. Other nations treat higher education as an export business. They flood the US visa system with graduates from credential mills aimed at American employers, collect the remittances back home, and leave US taxpayers and companies holding the costs of integration, oversight, and displacement. One side builds its own workforce. The other exports labor to live off ours while telling us we need them. We don't and we never have. We have 340 million people in this country there isn't a single job we can't do. Tag your politicians.

🚨Reality check: H‑1B isn’t filling gaps, it’s creating them. DOJ just secured a $313K settlement from Compunnel because their recruiters thought “Americans Need Not Apply” was a legal job posting. Stop treating Americans like the backup plan in their own country.

@BarefootStudent It doesn't matter in IT anymore. If you aren't Indian AND don't have 3 yrs. experience AND can't hit the ground running you'll never get an entry-level position. Look into farming or dental hygiene.
