@owroot I’ve been reading Louis recently. Great old fashioned story telling. I have 10-15 books bought used mass market paperback format. I can see why he was so popular.

My dad read so many Louis L'Amour books when we were kids. He just cranked through them. I don't think he ever owned any. He would get them at the library. Check out a couple, rip through them on the beach in the summer with pipe in hand, and then take them back and get a few more. He did that over and over again until there were no more to read. It's funny the things about our parents and our childhoods that stick with us. Often it's not consequential stuff, but the small little obscure details that come to be the memories. When I think of my dad, when I was a kid, I remember Louis L'Amour books.

@FXMC1957 I watch kojak every night on Tubi when I go to bed. It’s comfort TV. 70s NY until the last season when it was filmed in LA. The grit. The vibe. Kojak’s squad. The cast of up and coming actors. Classic.

@spclsmthin I wondered about that. I saw Botany 500 on every episode of Kojak until the last season then it was Telly’s line.

The same thing, another service unit to save money & all they did was get a line of clothes from their factory in another state. It was a cheap scheme the prod. got away w/until the unions were stronger. You don’t see it anymore, except in films when they get things from Armani.

A “healthy economy” is when a typical 90 IQ man can hold down a job earning enough to fund a modest lifestyle with his wife & kids. This only works when 130 IQ men are free to build great things as they see fit, with minimal friction from 110 IQ administrators.
