The vibe coding market looks really crowded at first
But most of these platforms are built for completely different use cases
Yes, you can try to build prototypes, MVPs, marketing sites, business apps, consumer apps, and developer tools in the same tool
But software generation is still far from solved, and doing any one of those well takes focus
I think the winners here will be the companies that become the best in a specific category, not the ones trying to build everything for everyone
What categories/products did I miss?

Zite has grown more over the past 7 days than Fillout did in its first 16 months
What changed? I think three things:
- Distribution: Zite benefits a lot from Fillout's existing customer base (same ICP)
- Models: the latest Anthropic releases have been a big step forward in code generation
- Product: Zite itself is much better than it was 1–2 months ago
We still have a lot to improve, but the number of people successfully building real business apps is rising fast
If you haven’t tried @zite recently, this is the week to!

The next chapter: renaming to Zite
Fillout, our online form builder, recently crossed $5M ARR and over 10,000 paying customers
But at the start of 2025, as AI coding models kept improving, we started rethinking our business and what we could do for our customers beyond forms
Could AI help non-engineers build software that businesses can actually rely on?
We built Zite, initially as an experiment, to help answer this question
Today, thousands of Zite apps are in use across SMBs, Fortune 500s, and government organizations, and usage is growing multiples faster than Fillout and other no-code tools
There’s a lot left to build, but we’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead
So today we're making it official: our company is now Zite
Fillout remains its own product under the Zite umbrella, and will continue to benefit from improvements across our products

Neon is the reason we can offer a dedicated database to every Zite customer, even on the free tier 🤝
Neon Postgres@neondatabase
“We were getting ready to hire dedicated engineers just to manage and scale @zite Database. With Neon, we didn’t need to do that, and we were able to give every user their own database”

Closing out launch week with a big one:
Zite Database is now generally available and included in all plans
When we launched the beta a few months ago, we weren't sure how teams would use it
Turns out, many moved their entire operations over
And today’s updates add the missing pieces for those core workflows:
🔍 Filters - multiple conditions, saved to your views
🧮 Formulas - describe what you want, AI handles the syntax
🚀 Scale to millions of rows - powered by a dedicated SQL database per team
🧱 20+ field types - including auto-number, linked records, and lookups
Power, usability, and cost effectiveness - Zite lets you pick 3 😉
That’s a wrap for this Launch Week
Thanks for following along!

big week. We completed our first acquisition: the Endeva team is joining @zite
2 months ago @Lauramaywendel and Alrik reached out to chat
from our first conversation, it was clear we’d been thinking about similar problems facing the vibe coding space
code generation is becoming a commodity, but building production software is way more than writing code
and in particular we shared a love for building for folks who are not software engineers
building for the doers who need software the most to improve their day to day
letting anyone build production business software requires new UX patterns and solving a lot of hard technical problems & an excellent team
the Endeva team is world-class and I’m thrilled to have them joining Zite

there’s a great irony in startup recruiting
it’s why everyone rushes to join Sierra at $10B or Cursor at $30B
once a company becomes a unicorn, they get flooded with top talent
but it’s MUCH better to join before the massive round, because:
1) after a big round, the company’s FMV increases and strike prices for new options sky rocket
2) every offer gets scrutinized by the board. Large equity grants become much harder because the paper value jumps (even though the business hasn’t changed much)
the good news: it’s not that hard to find companies before they raise
companies are always hiring great people, even when they’re not raising capital
a simple filter is to ask your favorite VC:
“which companies do you want to invest in that won’t meet with you?”
if you’re a strong engineer/marketer/salesperson, that company will always take your call (even when they won’t take the VC’s)
P.S. we’re hiring at @Zite. And we’re not (currently) meeting with VCs 😉

Zite Database is now live for everyone, no waitlist
our eng team made some heroic efforts this past week to handle the surge in demand
The new architecture is scaling nicely. How things work under the hood:
Every organization gets their own dedicated PostgreSQL database (powered by @neondatabase)
Because each org has its own database, performance stays consistent even as usage grows. Databases aren't impacted by other accounts.
Zite database comes with:
• Unlimited users for free
• As easy to use as a spreadsheet
• Native integration with @fillout forms and @zite apps
Excited to see what people build with it.
