I travel frequently between Delhi and Dehradun. The media keeps hyping the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway like it’s a game changer. Earlier, it took 4–5 hours with a break. Now, even with the expressway, it’s still around 4 hours. Google Maps shows 3:45. Add a 15-minute break and you’re back to roughly the same time. ₹12,000 crore spent to save barely 40–50 minutes.

Firstly, end to end expressway taking around 2.5 hour in reality as well, maps will take Some time to calibrate. Secondly it's not only about decreasing individual travel time on almost empty highway, but also about added capacity to handle traffic and reduce overall time once utilisation will increase significantly.

@mynewrainbow Given the population surge, overutilization is inevitable. It’s only a matter of time before this highway gets choked. By that logic, congestion was always predictable. That said, I’m not sure it fully justifies a 12,000 crore investment.

@Ankittskedia I traveled heavily on previous route. During Kanwad and sawan, it was logistical nightmare for businesses. Around mohand, rain use to disrupt traffic. It was need of hour to have such dedicated route.

@mynewrainbow @Ankittskedia I have to travel 10 hours due to kanwad route for 4 hour journey. Now we can safely move as kanwad won't be using this route.
