San Francisco. Je suis dans un groupe d'amis, tous devs. Je pose une question qui les a laissés sans voix : « Vous vous voyez rester développeur toute votre vie ? Apprendre une seule compétence, le code, et rien d'autre ? » Oui À l'époque je dévorais déjà tout ce qui touchait de près ou de loin à l'ingénierie. La physique quantique. L'astrophysique. La psychologie. Etc, etc. Je n'ai jamais compris pourquoi les gens se « spécialisaient ». Pourquoi se construire une cage volontairement. Puis l'IA est arrivée. Et ma soif de connaissance a trouvé un puits sans fond. Mais le vrai sujet n'est pas là. Je suis absolument convaincu d'une chose : ce qu'on appelle l'intelligence humaine, ce que l'IA n'est PAS encore capable de faire peut-être un jour, mais aujourd'hui on n'a aucun signal de ça c'est avoir des idées créatives. C'est quoi une idée créative ? C'est associer des choses qui n'ont rien à voir entre elles pour créer quelque chose de neuf. Et ces associations se composent en arbre. Connaissance + expérience = wisdom. More wisdom = more creativity. Et ça compound. Mon edge aujourd'hui, ce n'est pas de savoir une chose mieux que les autres. C'est de voir le monde comme un tout. Où absolument tout est connecté. L'avenir n'appartient pas aux spécialistes. Il appartient aux polymaths. Aux généralistes capables de relier des univers que personne d'autre ne pense à relier. Et il va falloir tout reconstruire pour ça à commencer par nos systèmes éducatifs, conçus pour fabriquer des experts dans une seule case. Le futur, c'est ceux qui voient l'arbre entier.
