Before the Blackhawks dominated Chicago hockey… ...there was another team. The Chicago Shamrocks nearly played for the Stanley Cup in the 1930s — before being shut down when their owner bought the Detroit franchise that became the Red Wings. @NHLBlackhawks @CHGO_Blackhawks @CHSN_Blackhawks @CHSN__ @WatchMarquee @thescorechicago @DetroitRedWings @freep @PatBoyle__ @leilarahimi @ESPNChicago @ESPN1000 @NHL @NHLMedia @NHLPA @HockeyHallFame @NHL_On_TNT @cbcsports #blackhawks #redwings #ChicagoHistory #shamrocks #nhlhistory #hockeyhistory #remembertheroar

One American helped build Japanese baseball. Former big leaguer Lefty O’Doul played a major role in developing the sport in Japan and influencing the creation of the Yomiuri Giants. A forgotten chapter in baseball history. A man long overdue for a plaque in Cooperstown. The entire process could not have gone worse if the Internet had somehow reached through the tubes and melted my computer remotely. During the pre-sale, I received visual confirmation that my order was received on six different transactions that I attempted, yet my credit card was never charged, nor did I ever receive an email confirmation. I get that this isn't on y'all as the Slammers, but your ticketing partner needs to get their shit together for the next time that one of their customers attempts something that they know is going to crush the box. Have them reach out to the @shmoocon team if they want to learn how to architect a system that won't fall over at the first sign of load. What IS on y'all as the Slammers are the emails you sent at 10:12 saying that pre-sale had concluded, and that the remaining tickets would go on sale at noon. There WERE no remaining tickets, so you simply should've pulled that email--and this Tweet--so suckers like me weren't back hammering the box again at noon in hopes that the system had been fixed. Honestly, I have no idea how in the hell y'all sold ticket number one, given that I tried multiple browsers on multiple devices, to no avail. UNBELIEVABLY frustrating.

Jack Lausch was QB1 at Northwestern before dropping football to focus on baseball. He has now played college football in an MLB stadium (Wrigley Field) and baseball in an NFL stadium (U.S. Bank). (via @adub_sports)
