Hello! I just refreshed my pinned tweets. I usually share all things Tolkien, folklore, folktale, and sometimes just RT cute arts or cats. Below are examples of the types of things I like to tweet! This one is about Tolkien's essay on fairy stories. twitter.com/BlogTolkien/st…

On 8 March 1939, J. R. R. Tolkien delivered a lecture at the University of St. Andrews, which was published as essay "On Fairy Stories", in which he argued that fairy tales are not just for children, describing what it means to enter this realm. 🧵1/8 🎨: J.R.R. #Tolkien

Cheers to Singapore 🇸🇬 on giving @ElishaYered a tiny bit of the recognition he deserves. Yarde, chief terrorist for Eastern Ramallah, has been involved in countless acts of violence, scum that any nation committed to peace must reprimand. See more on this 💩 in 🧵

I swear I have other books too 😁 This Indonesian poetry book by Hendri Yulius Wijaya and English-language anthology from Anamot Press depict Indonesian queer experiences. One of the poets in the anthology is actually from the same province as me.

#ReadPalestineWeek 2025, day 7: the Indonesian translation of Thyme Travellers, an anthology of speculative fiction short stories by contemporary Palestinian authors. Gaza Luna is also my favorite story: about a failed astronaut who worked to bring a Palestinian flag to the moon.

#ReadPalestineWeek 2025, day 2: a memoir in the form of Plestia Alaqad's diary entries as she shared her observations, reporting, personal life, and stories of Gazans as the genocide unfolded. Honest, strong yet vulnerable, with jolts of humor. Purchased at @transitreads

I love that Muhawi and Kanaana emphasized the importance of oral tradition aspect and criticized tendency to sanitize folktales. Their notes added new layers of meaning and cultural contexts, such as racy anecdotes over details of one story, shared by an elderly storyteller.

Published 30 years after its title's inspiration "Stone Butch Blues", this memoir by Lamya H. reflects Leslie Feinberg's way of exploring queer identity that doesn't fit into fixed, narrow boxes, as well as intersectionality, acceptance, and unexpected found family.

My first horror novel by trans author, "Tell Me I'm Worthless" is a haunted house tale where the insidious supernatural horror intertwined with the bleak, real-world one; rage bleeding from every page. A mirror on Rumfitt's experience facing organized, politicized transphobia.

A Balinese blawong, a decorative stand to display keris (traditional dagger), also popular in Java. Shaped like Hanuman and made of jackfruit wood. At the bottom are ceremonial Balinese keris, the types that would be displayed proudly on a blawong. 📸: Museum Nasional Indonesia

My last two birthday books arrived after almost two months! I've read good words about Alison Rumfitt's haunted house horror that reflects organized transphobia. And a book that references "Stone Butch Blues" also talks about being a queer person that doesn't fit into fixed box.
