THE FUNNY HE-SHE LADIES! was a 2023 Academy Nicholl finalist. A dramedy based on the Boulton and Park crossdressing scandal of 1870-71. Their trial became a cause célèbre that implicated London’s high society and marked the first recorded use of the term “drag.”

@franklinleonard @BumpyNight I guess I’m thinking in the scope of an actual career, beyond just “getting in the room.” The cool script can get you a meeting but unless you can show a clear commercial sensibility, they’re just going to move on to the next cool writer who can show that.
