@DocZeyus @AngelMD1103 I didn’t realize places did that, I thought the servers would split actual tips received, not ‘expected’ tips based on sales. Kitchen staff shouldn’t be guaranteed a certain percentage of sales.

@DRL77 @AngelMD1103 Sure, but servers also have to tip out to the kitchen based on their total sales a lot of the time, so this no tip could literally take money out of her pocket. Could argue it’s not how it should be, but it’s how it is.

A server in Toronto just went viral after sharing a story that has the internet split. A group of diners asked to sit in her section; knowing they were “high maintenance.” Multiple orders, constant refills, special requests… the full experience. She handled it all, no issues, no complaints. Bill comes out to $158. They leave $160. Then, tell her to keep the $1.30. After everything. She says the whole restaurant heard it… and honestly, it wasn’t even about the money anymore; it was the principle. But here’s where it gets messy Some people are dragging the customers, calling it disrespectful and embarrassing. Others are saying: “Why is tipping even expected if servers are already paid?” So now the real debate isn’t about that table; it’s about the entire tipping culture. Is this just bad manners… or proof that the system itself is broken?

@hustlerama Seemed like 2 hours and 9 minutes. 6:15 puck drop, and done at 8:24 I don’t ever remember a game ending that fast for the #NHLJets

@harrymack I like how when someone gives him a word, he just doesn’t fit that word in and is done with it. He continues to rhyme on subject of the word. Like “book” for example, he rhymes about novels, Stephen King, etc. it’s not just a quick one-and-done, ‘here’s your word’ type thing.

@WiebesWorld Is Morrissey expected to miss time with the #NHLJets? Or will Jets medical staff need to examine him before that decision is made?

@brent_bellamy I see a lot of vehicles that don’t even come to a stop when making a right turn on red. It’s like they think because a right on red is allowed, they can just coast on through.

My column today: If we want neighbourhoods to be walkable and vibrant, people need to feel safe walking and biking. The 1970’s law allowing right turns on red lights prioritizes vehicles over safety. Many cities are considering banning it in urban areas. winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/analys…

@AlexTran677026 The whole Waingro character bugs me, I think it’s a huge plot hole. All of the events in the film are a result of Waingro’s actions, but McCauleys crew is so tight-knit, detail orientated and cautious, that Waingro would never have been part of their crew in the first place.

In Heat (1995), Neil McCauley lays down a strict rule during the iconic diner scene: never get attached to anything you’re not willing to walk away from in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner. Near the end of the film, Michael Mann puts that line to the test. When McCauley realizes Vincent Hanna is closing in, he leaves the woman he loves… and he does it in exactly 30 seconds. That’s no coincidence. It’s character philosophy turning into pure cinema. 👉 Do you think McCauley truly lives by his rule, or is that rule ultimately his downfall?

@ScottBilleck “Watched him walk for free”, that’s kind of what UFAs do. I see no issue in keeping him for the playoff push. So you wanted the #NHLJets to use that $6 million and acquire someone at the deadline, but you also wanted them to trade Ehlers? Make it make sense.

Drake Maye faced the toughest path to the Super Bowl in NFL Playoff History. No QB has ever beat 3 Top 5 defenses to get to the Super Bowl. Until Drake Maye. Chargers were #5 Defense Texans were #1 Defense Broncos were #2 Defense PUT SOME RESPECT on Drake Maye’s name.

@daniel_rotman15 @NickZylakFFA Patriots are a good team, no question. But the Chargers had no O-line Broncos didn’t have Bo Nix NE is a solid, well-rounded team. Play well in all phases. But Im not sure the make it by Denver if Nix is playing. They only beat Stidham by 3, and he set up the NE TD

The Patriots are the first team in NFL history to beat three top-5 total defenses in the playoffs. • Los Angeles Chargers (#5) • Houston Texans (#1) • Denver Broncos (#2) Tough day for the “schedule” narrative…

Happy Birthday to Daniel Johnston would've turned 65 today. 🕊️🩵 In the early ’80s, a young Daniel Johnston was working at a McDonald’s in Austin, Texas. Instead of just handing out fries, he was handing out cassette tapes, sometimes slipping his homemade albums into customers’ to-go bags. After Johnston’s appearance on MTV’s 'The Cutting Edge,' label executives started calling almost immediately, but McDonald’s was the only place he had reliable access to a phone. Word spread fast around Austin and soon people were coming in not for the Big Macs, but for Daniel Johnston.

@CryptoInvstr64 @AlexTran677026 Another issue I have is that Neil is so careful, yet they meet up with Waingro at a diner, Neil slams his head onto the table, drawing attention. Then he plans to kill Waingro outside in the parking lot? Doesn’t sound like the plan of someone who is so methodical

@DRL77 @AlexTran677026 Part about Waingro that bugs the crap out of me is how they hinted at him being a serial killer, but that plotline went nowhere. Why bother at all?

Thematically, the film’s ending is a tremendous example of irony. Had Neil Macaulay (Robert DeNiro) maintained the discipline he built his life as a profession thief upon, he would have flown to New Zealand and escaped to a new life, with Eady (Amy Brenneman) at his side, ready to start a new life together, but it was his loyalty to his compatriots and his focus on detail and completeness of the job that drove him to be sidetracked by the chance to inflict his vengeance upon Waingro (Kevin Gage), which lead Neil to be reengaged by Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), ultimately leading to his death. Had he been able to let go of that need to close off every detail and express his vengeance against those who had wronged his friends, Neil would have survived, and Vincent would have been utterly frustrated. But his failure to focus on his escape, in yet another layer of ironic subtext, Neil’s loss allows the protection of unknown innocents via his execution of the serial killer Waingro, so there is still dignity in Neil’s sacrifice, even if it is unwitting. 🍿Heat | 1995
