@sabrius @MattWalshBlog @calleymeans This is how Missouri’s State funded WIC program works. If you want it you have to go too meetings once a month and they only allow healthy food and even control the portion size you can get. That’s how it was when I was a kid anyways.

@MattWalshBlog @calleymeans Why should we be just aimlessly sending money to people to just buy food without any guidance. These food assistance programs should require a mandatory meeting with a nutritionist to set up healthy meal plans, and the food purchased should ONLY come from that list.

I have to assume that anyone defending using food stamps to buy soda must either be on food stamps or they’re getting paid by the soda industry. Otherwise it’s a baffling point of view. Why in God’s name should taxpayers be forced to subsidize someone else’s junk food purchase? Why should someone who has cutback on junk food for budgetary and health reasons still be forced to pay so that other people can buy the junk? It’s a totally indefensible position.
