It must be a gacha game thing where if someone praises the game they play that means they're saying all other games are shit. Very bizarre. I never see " I love guild wars 2" "well world of Warcraft is good too!" Okay? Who said it isn't. I just don't play it so why would I care? If I hadn't been introduced to gacha games I doubt I'd even play them. Most people look down on them anyways and they're certainly not looked on positively outside of the communities that play them. I'm really not sure why there's this need to have back and forths between the fanbases or attack people. Kind of stupid on all fronts. I guess this or that is only natural. I dunno. Odd.

It just isn’t true at all. In terms of graphics and presentation you have NTE, AKE out rn that match it. If you mean story then tbh I don’t think the writing quality has ever been exceptional and is arguably the worst of the 6. Music? Again like it’s not bad but I don’t think it’s a tier above the competition. In terms of generosity? Well NTE doesn’t even have a 50/50 anymore and has a bunch of free 5 star weapons(arcs). The WuWa glaze is just kinda tiresome nowadays as it’s just discrediting a lot of the other games on the market to praise a game that is at best middle of the pack. And I say that bcs for all the progress WuWa did inspire it also could have EASILY inspired some terrible trends too. For example, a story structure based around banner advertising and solely MC x Char focus. Those are two things WuWa banked heavily on which thankfully didn’t transfer to its successors. NTE imo has made immense progress in that front. Giving focus, and development as well as lore relevance to standards and chars whose banners ended. Lacrimosa is the 1.1 banner for example and yet the story focuses on Nanally, Daffodil and generally keeps the Eibon crew as revelant ensemble MCs no matter what. They have demonstrated very clearly that the story>advertising the banner which in some respects is even above Genshin as even Genshin usually releases a Story quest to advert chars meanwhile NTE straight up didn’t do anything for Lacrimosa. She got one quest in 1.0 and that’s it. I just don’t think WuWa leads the pack anymore, it did for a short while, imo in 2.0 it was the de facto best Gacha but it really hasn’t been able to maintain that throne. I don’t think you are being tribalistic in like the Saintontas way at all. I do think your opinions are good faith but they def come from someone who is very invested in WuWa and that’s fine. I just don’t agree with these takes.

@soh_toa @narukaminahri Fans don't need every event to rewrite the core IP forever. This was a love letter that finally let her heal, sleep soundly without the insomnia nightmares, and feel like she could move forward. That's meaningful for people who actually give a shit about her tho.

Tangential discussion but I really don’t get the collab hype ever. The story is always filler or at least has no impact on the Gacha’s story and the chars being never reoccurring means they are the most susceptible to powercreep long term. I never understood why they get so hyped up. AC collab in R99 as another example. No one really talks abt it anymore and all it honestly did was act as an extra 6 week wait for the 2.X series finale. I get why companies do it, to attract new fans from those IPs, but from the pov of someone alr playing the gacha I was found them kinda meh.

Sure but collab stories due to their nature as filler can never tell a meaningful story that expands on the core IP or develops any of the chars. And that’s why I personally find them quite lacklustre. Sure it’s nice to play Lucy or Astoria or Ezio in the game but these characters can’t have any meaningful arcs nor can they meaningfully change the Gacha chars in any way, as a result they are often as exciting as filler patches to me.

@soh_toa @Blade_kun123 The 3.x storylines already cooking connected arcs, payoff, and actual character dynamics that make the "disjointed Solo Leveling banner ad" take look ancient lul. Its been evolving past pure hype while y'all still coping with the same 1.x & 2.x complaints

I have to disagree abt WuWa, I think the story is structurally very disjointed, lacking a lot of set up and follow through, often times too much just Solo Leveling and banner advertisements. It’s a story that lives and dies off hype moments and aura while NTE does rely more on characterisation, and dynamics being compelling to entertain. But that aside, it is a funny argument to make that NTE is episodic and WuWa is a movie bcs this was actually the opposite argument in the past. A major defence of WuWa’s banner based approach to story structure was that it was episodic and not trying to be one long running epic.
