@DebugPrivilege So I'm an optimistic 36 year old without any degree or previous experience in tech with an hope to become a Threat Hunter in future and finally find an MSRC bug, get a CVE and retire..

Are you concerned that AI will take over your job or do you think you’ll be good for a while?

Maybe On-Prem wasn’t that bad actually

Nobody is telling you how FUCKED the data center situation actually is right now. Every major tech company on earth just spent BILLIONS building AI data centers in the Gulf. Microsoft. Google. Amazon. Oracle. All of them. Sitting right there. In the middle of a warzone. Here's what you need to understand: → Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar — they're not just oil hubs anymore → They became the world's AI infrastructure backbone → Billions in servers. Billions in cooling systems. Billions in fiber cables. → YOUR data. YOUR cloud. YOUR apps. Running from there. Now look at what's happening: → Iran has launched 1,400+ missiles and drones at Gulf states → Hotels and residential buildings in Bahrain already hit → UAE absorbed 186 ballistic missiles and 812 drones → Kuwait's US air base is STILL burning → Saudi Arabia intercepting drones near military facilities daily One missile. ONE. Into a major data center. And here's what happens: HOUR 1: → Cloud services go down across half the planet → Banks lose access to transaction systems → Hospitals lose patient records → Millions of businesses running on AWS/Azure/Google Cloud — offline DAY 1: → Stock trading platforms crash → Crypto exchanges freeze → Supply chain software goes dark → Airlines can't process bookings WEEK 1: → Companies realize their "backup" was in the same region → Data that took years to build — gone → AI models that cost hundreds of millions to train — destroyed → Insurance won't cover acts of war And the worst part? Iran knows exactly where these data centers are. They're not hidden. They're not underground. They're sitting on the coast. The same coast that Iran's drones reach every single day. The entire digital economy is one strike away from going dark. And nobody is moving a single server.

@DebugPrivilege Because large tech companies build out in weird ways? It's wild when you start looking at team sizes at various orgs before you even throw 5-10-20% gains or more with LLMs.

@BertJanCyber Just out of curiosity, do you automate running queries, or are you still pasting them in one by one manually, for example in an XDR console?

At #ExpertsLiveDK I was asked if you can build NRT rules for response actions, the answer is: YES! The AlertEvidence table contains the data you need. You can use the query below as a starting point and set automatic response actions, or SOAR triggers. github.com/Bert-JanP/Hunt…

@vxunderground I would rather learn to code WITH the assistance of an LLM. Why waste unnecessary time?

If you want to learn malware development you need to do two things 1. Learn to code without the assistance of an LLM 2. Learn malware techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTPs). It doesn't really matter which one you start with. When I first started, I started with #2. I wasn't particularly interested in learning to program, but the theory and underlying concepts fascinated me. If you choose #2 you don't have to get super low level and start studying Windows internals (in this context I'm discussing Windows malware). You just need to know how a particular method works fundamentally. I think malware TTPs are really cool and I loved learning about them (I still do). What you'll eventually discover however is that TTPs "stack". You'll see newer techniques are based off of older techniques or they're slightly modified variants of older techniques. You'll also see some of the TTPs are completely legitimate things which are abused. You don't need a fancy course to study malware TTPs. You can just Google it or ask an LLM, or something.

A lot of "AI layoffs" don’t look like AI replacing people. Looks more like budget shuffling: cut payroll to pay the growing AI compute/token bill because leadership thinks it’ll deliver better ROI. Reallocation, not replacement.

The same applies to InfoSec roles in Europe. You can definitely earn over 100k, but in my experience it usually means working for an international company, like Salesforce, Palo Alto, Microsoft, and similar tech firms. 300k is possible too, but you’d need to be that 1%
Gergely Orosz@GergelyOrosz

I’ve met so many software engineers in Europe who assumed the same (“no way anyone in EU can make more than €100K/yr) Then read my article on the Trimodal nature of dev salaries, realized which companies to apply to, and broke in there. This article: blog.pragmaticengineer.com/software-engin…

@cheddar420yolo Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t aware of that, but it wouldn’t change the way how I see the tipping culture in the US.

To be honest, this is why I avoid the US at all costs. I’ve been there a couple of times and the people are lovely, but the tipping culture is just nuts. You better start learning cooking though. Food is insanely overpriced imho

@Odra_MH Yup, you’re right. I still remember when I was in Austin, TX. There was someone in the restroom handing me towels and expecting a tip lol.

@DebugPrivilege That is why fast food is so widespread here, despite the health risks. You order food, you pick it up, and that's it. As soon as you get someone transporting food, you are bound to deal with tipping culture.
