@DefyDefiDefy That kinda is also why I typically ask “how is this bad for the casual like me that only got into Shmups in more recent years”? That’s become the plague of the Shmup community, anything above a couple frames of input lag? Automatic garbage, no ifs ands or buts.

@JaimersSTG This sucks, I pre ordered ps5 version through import cause I've always wanted to play these games and the 360 version wasn't released for PAL regions. MOSS are usually pretty solid with their releases too.

Why not just port Raiden Fighters Aces instead of making an objectively worse port!?
The puzzle pieces are these: RFA was by Success and Gulti. While RFM is by Moss themselves, in-house.
They may not want to pay Success and Gulti for licensing the old software… what a mess.

Arcade1up uses cheap hardware for higher profits and Sega charges heaps for licensing

@DefyDefiDefy You are correct but the Sega Amusements company [Kaizen] gets priority access to certain IPs which is why SEGA does not turn around and license key titles to companies like Arcade1up. SEGA's in-house arcade operations have a new name operating as subsidiary "Sega Fave Co."

Why do SNK-DOA licenses "expire" when SNK pretty much loves to collab with like anyone, I've seen Mai in the most random phone games and you don't hear anything about her not being available anymore?
Imo, this is fully on Tecmo Koei's side. They don't want to renew that.

Almost every title in the last few years are completely or partially developed by them so ports do not seem likely

@_ShootTheCore There’s a plausible assumption of it being that long because of how most exclusivity contracts are made for other media. It’s also a slight assumption given what we saw with Strainia’s eXA version (2020) and the rerelease of that version as Strainia EX (2025). No confirmation.

It’s a shame we won’t be able to play the eXA version of Air Gallet for at least 5 years. The medal collecting for score is something I like in shmups. The changed weapon balance, the thunder drive system and the medal chaining score system make this version pretty distinct.

No one is saving the arcade business by themselves but they are an affordable alternative to the racing and gun games by everyone else

Arcade games and STGs are my FAVORITE genre, but even I'm not dense enough to think that Exa is "keeping them alive"... They are the Lambo of a genre only held on by a tiny fandom.
