Contrary to what Doug Ford has promised, studies warn that jets at Billy Bishop pose a significant risk of increased noise pollution, water pollution, air pollution, and traffic congestion, which would negatively impact housing, public spaces, and public perception – potentially reducing tourism and economic development on the waterfront.
Any proposal for Billy Bishop and our city’s waterfront must include Toronto as a full partner. Your participation in this consultation is an important first step.

A supersized Billy Bishop airport expansion would cost an astronomical 🚨 $5 billion ⁉️
That’s according to the Toronto Port Authority which governs the site - who told me last month that the City of Toronto hasn’t even seen a basic plan 🛩️
What are they waiting for? People deserve the facts.
Instead we’ve found that there has been:
❌ No health assessment
❌ No environmental survey
❌ No business case
The waterfront belongs to the people who live there, work there, and visit – not to big jets.

Toronto Port Authority just confirmed in hearings late today the Billy Bishop airport expansion will cost a massive $4B to $5B. Who is going to pay for it? Is this expansion even economically viable? We also learned the provincial government and the federal government are in secret closed door conversations with the Port Authority over the Billy Bishop airport expansion, and the rest of us are in the dark, including the City of Toronto. Toronto residents don't want this airport expansion, and the people in charge know it. That's why they're not telling us about what's in store for us. They're not telling us about the business case, the increase in pollution, the noise, the health impacts, or the impact on tourism and housing construction.

What is the objective of the Toronto Harbourlands development project?
Make Toronto a “must visit” global city by giving it a park to surpass that of Central Park, Millennium Park, Stanley Park, Hyde Park, and others.
What are the key elements?
1) Close Billy Bishop airport.
2) Build swing bridges over the Eastern and Western Gaps.
3) Build a loop streetcar line joining Harbourfront, the Islands, Cherry Beach, and the Port Lands — with a spur to Exhibition Place and Ontario Place.
4) Build a new convention centre in the Port Lands with the greatest view of Toronto’s skyline.
5) Build out the Port Lands into a new entertainment district that includes a revamped Hearn Generating Station similar to London’s Battersea Power Station.
6) Join up the Toronto Waterfront from the eastern Beaches to the western Humber River.

Scientists are working on a new cooling method called magnetocaloric refrigeration. It uses special materials like gadolinium that heat up when placed in a magnetic field and cool down when the field is removed.
By cycling these materials with changing magnetic fields, they can create cooling without compressors or harmful refrigerant gases. This could make refrigerators quieter, more energy-efficient, and more environmentally friendly than today’s systems.
