I’m pleased to share our latest invited review article just published in Optica's journal Optical Materials Express: “Integrated nonlinear photonics with chalcogenide glasses: compositions, properties, applications, and roadmap.” opg.optica.org/ome/fulltext.c…
Great session today at the @NSWsensing (NSSN) Board meeting, hosted at the Office of the NSW Chief Scientist here in Sydney. Always energising to sit around the table with such a sharp group of thinkers from industry, government and our member universities.
Last night we gathered with colleagues and friends of IPOS @Sydney_Uni for the biennial Peter Domachuk Memorial Lecture from Prof. Shanhui Fan (@Stanford), one of the world’s leading minds in photonics and electromagnetism.
We closed with spectacular dinner at the Opera House.
Great to celebrate APL Photonics @aplphotonics with colleagues and friends of APLP at CLEO last night! Lots of fun chatting about the journal and sharing stories from the past 10 years.
APL Photonics Editor-in-Chief @ProfBenEggleton will be leading a short course on Principles and Applications of Guided Wave Nonlinear Optics Monday, May 5 as part of #CLEO2025!

Nice to see our publication “On-Chip Stimulated Brillouin Scattering to Linearize a Dual-Parallel Mach-Zehnder Modulator”, very fruitful
collaboration with Prof José Capmany’s team, Universitat Politècnica de València, Valencia, Spain @EggletonLabieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10908…
Great to collaborate with Reena Parihar and Amol Choudhary from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and collaborators at ANU to demonstrate “On-chip power efficient MHz to GHz tunable Brillouin microwave photonic filters,” published in
APL Photonics. pubs.aip.org/aip/app/articl…
Great to be able to join the DST celebration (50th anniversary)- at the reception hosted by Her Excellency Samantha Mostyn, AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, with @tanyamonro@CDS_Australia and @HilderEmily
Sydney scientists have achieved a breakthrough in microchip communication by using laser-generated high-frequency sound waves.
This could lead to significantly faster internet speeds on your devices.
