Thomas Massie went to the House floor and said Bayer — a German company — spent over $9 million lobbying the executive and legislative branches for one thing: immunity from lawsuits over a chemical tied to non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
He also noted that Attorney General Pam Bondi and Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles worked for Ballard Partners — the firm that registered to lobby for Bayer in December 2024. Ballard Partners contributed $50 million to Trump's 2024 campaign.
Three weeks after that, Trump signed an executive order on February 18 invoking the Defense Production Act to declare glyphosate production a national security priority — and shield its producers from liability. The immunity is already in place. Massie introduced HR 7601 to undo it.
165,000 Americans have filed lawsuits claiming Roundup caused their cancer. Bayer's settlement package in 2020 ran to $10.9 billion. The hallmark study cited for decades as evidence glyphosate was safe was retracted in December — because Monsanto employees helped ghostwrite it.
MAHA said "Make America Healthy Again." Massie's line on the floor: "If we're Making America Healthy Again, government shouldn't be promoting glyphosate and providing liability immunity for corporations making it."

Thomas Massie is sounding the alarm. Congress is about to pass a liability shield for Bayer — a foreign corporation — that would strip Americans of the right to sue when glyphosate gives them cancer. Massie: “This is not to grant farmers immunity. This is to grant corporations immunity. If you contract non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma from this chemical — you won’t be able to sue.” Bayer has already paid billions settling cancer lawsuits. This bill ends future lawsuits permanently. RFK Jr. built his brand on MAHA. Trump is urging Republicans to pass it anyway.

BREAKING: Pam Bondi has been fired as attorney general, according to Fox News. EPA Director Lee Zeldin is reportedly under consideration to replace her. According to Fox, President Trump met in the Oval Office with Bondi before his speech last night. "One of those sources said that by the time Trump took his place behind the podium for the address, Bondi had already lost her job and was on her way back to Florida," Fox News reported. Trump said Bondi will be transitioning to a "much-needed and important new job" in the private sector. He said that job will be announced in the near future.
