This is such a nice “reset” for Gon. He put his life in the reapers hands and walked away, alive enough to be able to figure out what he wants to do for himself. Not necessarily as burdened by the pursuit of his father, but a free path to decide if Gon is really a hunter.

Crazy how Fate worked, at the end of Gow 2018 in the mural Kratos was supposed to die in the arms of Atreus and Thor standing aside, but he changed fate by opening his heart to the world. Odin became the " father " false father , he replaced Kratos there and died in Atreus arms. He was trying to be Atreus father trying to replace Kratos manipulating him, Kratos replaced Thor. Peak Writing Man!
