Hard to keep up with the excuses coming these days from some Hungarian politicians and energy company managers about why Russian oil “must” flow through the Adriatic Pipeline. One day it’s capacity. The next it’s transit fees. Day three, it’s refinery compatibility. Day four, a sudden conversion - now there’s unexpected faith in the EU, together with dramatic threats. And then, my personal favourite: the “bad Croatian politicians” (not me, obviously – my naughty, naughty colleagues). At this pace, and given the strength of the arguments so far, I half expect the next round of complaints to be about the weather forecast at the oil terminal on Krk Island. Spoiler: it will probably rain, but it will still be better than in Moscow. Meanwhile, tankers keep docking in Krk. Compliant crude keeps unloading, and six more tankers are due in March. Oil aligned with EU sanctions and OFAC rules keeps flowing to our friends in Slovakia and Hungary. The legal, financial, political, and moral arguments are all on the side of such an approach. So what’s with all the panic? The Adria Pipeline is doing what pipelines do. P.S. As Yes, Minister would put it: “Only ministers panic about them.” And in politics, panic is so often just another name for vested interests under pressure.

I wasn't here for a couple of days and guess what? The first couple of tweets are from the fasc*ist owner of this place. Not following him of course. Anybody else gets unwanted tweets? 🤔

All those that are dissing Pogi and yapping that he makes races boring are a bunch of sorry losers who couldn't follow his wheel on a 1000 watt e bike. And are shitting here just to get more clicks to get a few cents from fascist owner of this thing. Go watch fishing and STFU.

@carltonkirby @BriSmithy @tntsports Great to hear you both from my country again! 😊 Forecast for tomorrow is not so good, with strong wind expected. Bridge of Pag they will (hopefully) ride over can experience wind speed of over 200 kph! Here is the view of Paški most with my bike, taken this summer. 😊 #crorace

Hats off to the people who blocked the protesters and didn't allow them to injure the riders when the peloton passed. 👏 And yes, the organization did the right thing by cancelling the stage, this was not safe at all for a finish. #LaVuelta25

I was a bit late for the real thing, but it was nice riding here anyway. 😊 I passed through this place on a 5 day bike packing trip through Slovenia and three of its four neighbouring countries.

@tomdanielson That was exactly how I felt. While his team (-Sivakov) were always visible and almost wiping roads with VLB domestiques in the first part, Tadej was all alone on serious climbs in the later part of the race. I hope we will find out eventually...

3. There is this a new narrative going around that Tadej is bored and struggling with not having any competition. My perspective is that this is not true. I think Tadej’s body was not functioning well during the second half of the Tour due this illness and the effects of his crash. This was the reason he raced quite conservative and why in the interviews he was not his normal “playful” self. You could see the major hit his teammates and others riders experienced (like Matteo) when they also suffered the same illness. Impressive how well he got through the race and that he still tried for the victory in the last stage despite clearly not feeling well.

My thoughts on Tour de France Stage 21: 1. What a beautiful stage win for Wout Van Aert. Visma set up the win perfectly using Matteo to soften up the break to spring board Wout. Tadej took the bait (underestimating Wout) by chasing two attacks from Matteo and then going straight into setting the pace the last time up the climb. Wout then countered him with the winning attack going over the top of him at the top of the last climb with 6 k to go. Wout used his incredible bike handling skills to open the gap on the wet roads.

@PenroseVRXP @laflammerouge16 He got exactly what he deserved. Stupidity doesn't hurt unless it is countered with blunt force. That's the only way he'll remember not to do such shit any more.

@laflammerouge16 He was driving away and would have crossed the finish line way before they arrived, no? Not supporting his action, but the re-action was disproportional, simple as that. Pure macho behavior. Again, I don't see them doing that on a steep climb when idiots run along with riders.

Video of today's man intercepted in the final of #TDF2025 stage (From TV2) This was where the riders were at -1 to go. Totally unacceptable and dangerous, kudos for the security for taking appropriate measures.

The peloton Pogacar was in wasn't a breakaway group — it was the main peloton. It makes zero sense to ask a rider to willingly drop from the peloton to wait for a dropped rival, just because the team wants to attack — instead of the teammate simply dropping back and bringing him back themselves. Vingegaard and Evenepoel didn’t drop back in Stage 11. The fact that Pogacar is being blamed for doing the same thing his competitors did four stages ago is insane — but it’s probably a smart PR move from Visma’s side. (I still personally think that race is race in every case. Nobody should never wait for an opponent crash) #TDF2025

@tomdanielson I would totally agree with this. Jonas couldn't follow after first attack, something he did with ease just two days ago. Visma scorched them selves. And even as Tadej's fan, I was really disappointed when Jonas couldn't follow... Well, marginal gains aren't always working... 🤷🏽‍♂️

5. In my opinion Jonas’ performance today was below his normal level ( as with Matteo) and I think that’s was due to depletion. His respiration rate was short, his heels were dropping on the downstroke, and he was trying to pound fluids where he could. Also he bled time in the second half of the climb, losing time to the riders behind him. Unfortunately I think this depletion is due to using more energy than his rivals the first part of the Tour and likely will make the next part of the race more difficult for him. The time trial day is shorter and later in the day so hopefully he can make some progress refueling but likely he still will perform below his level.

My Thoughts on the Tour de France Stage 12: 1. Incredible performance from Tadej Pogacar who did not let yesterday’s crash get in the way of his plans to put on a dominant performance, to put 2:10 plus the 4 second bonus on Jonas. He went all the way to the line before saluting and was quite emotional in the first interview he did after the finish showing how grateful he was to be able to race the way he trained for. While he downplayed his injuries and how he felt, I will say from experience that 100 perfect limited his body today. Yes, he could have gone faster today. His team rallied strongly around him and absolutely they will even step up more this race after seeing their leader not let a crash get in the way. Based on how Tadej has raced the first part of the Tour and how he has set up the season, he will now get stronger each stage. Likely he will chase 4 more stage wins if he can do so without destroying his team. Finally, I gotta say how impressive this team was today with each and everyone stepping up. In comparison to Visma they are sort of the underdog team despite being better than all the other teams. Cool to see them deliver.
