England are not in the class of France, Argentina or Spain. But they do have some exceptional talent. Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane are world class. So is John Stones - at his best. Trent Alexander-Arnold is world class - in possession. Declan Rice is having the season of his life. There are more reasons to be positive going into this tournament than negative. But England have to be bold and play to their strengths.  Imagine if England were bold and, if all fit, went into the World Cup… Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Stones, Guehi, O’Reilly; Anderson, Rice; Saka, Bellingham, Gordon; Kane.  Stones would have some covering to do of Alexander-Arnold when he raced upfield. Bellingham gets heavily scrutinised but he’s a big-game player, a winner and used to pressure at Real Madrid. He has to start. England also have an exceptional head coach in Thomas Tuchel who can make the right changes at the right time. England have a chance of progressing to the quarter-finals of the World Cup and then anything’s possible. But only if they are bold. Not gung-ho. But bold. Risk/reward. #ENG

Some fans need a wake up call. Blaming Mous is focussing on treatment rather than the cure. The cancer at our club is Tornante. Mous makes mistakes as all coaches do. But do fans really believe you can have lowest budget in league and keep avoiding relegation year after year?

@MASaunders75 Ive hardly been this season, and some people probably won’t like this, but I think the Fratton atmosphere is quite overrated. Brilliant when backs to wall and for big games when against the odds. Otherwise I’d say it’s about standard for the level.

A telling sign of Monday night was how resigned the #Pompey crowd were to what they were seeing. No backs to the wall backing we’ve often mustered over the years. Derby’s early goal coupled with the knowledge we may not score again this season, left Fratton Park largely flat.

@adarkelimited Caballero so clearly a right winger too. He wants to skin a full back and get a ball in, not skin him and check back onto his right foot!

Another game where Mous has got selection wrong. Whatever you think of Segs, he’s our top scorer. In a team who create so little he has to play. Caballero so raw. Swift much better at 10 than Chaplin too who is so disappointing every time.

@adarkelimited Our team had 7 players who played for us in L1 out there tonight. Derby have kicked on. We have a very poor team, but it's ok we can upgrade the playing surface in the summer.

We lose those kind of games all the time because quality costs, and we don’t want to pay. It’s not unlucky. You don’t deserve more cos you worked hard. Endeavour comes cheap, and we’ve got loads of that. But it won’t be enough.

I feel the "winter break" debate coming on again in the Premier League. It’s obviously needed - even with expanded squads, elite players risk fatigue, less training time etc - but too many vested interests preventing it happening.

Would certainly improve current group. Limited technically and probably a L1 player really but powerful and good physicality plus knows level. Take it for now.

Clearly the measly budget is the main factor and the owners the most culpable but Brad Wall and Hughes should be accountable too. In what world did they think that many “future projects” was the right balance? Only Chaplin was an elite Champ performer and that’s not worked.
