@RmSalih Er…it was Sunni Kuwait, Saudi, and Gulf states that begged the US to intervene in Iraq. They funded the two Gulf wars and allowed the US to make bases in their lands.

I see some people are trying to assert "Shia supremacy" based on Iran's impressive response to the US/Israeli attack. "Shias are resistance heros while Sunnis are Israeli/Western collaborators etc." This is entirely unfair. The fact is that during the last century both Sunnis and Shias have collaborated with AND resisted Western imperialism. For example, Shias were heavily involved in facilitating the US invasion and occupation of Iraq. On the other hand, they have also been at the forefront of the fight against Israel. Sunnis have indeed signed normalisation deals with Israel and facilitated US hegemony in the Middle East. But they have also taken the lead in fighting Israel and the Western occupation in Iraq. The lesson being that trying to designate a particular sect as "pure" and another as "dirty" when it comes to Western imperialism is nonsensical. The reality is much more complicated and messy. So stop making this a sectarian thing.
