My name is Chris and I’m an alcoholic. Today marks 48 days sober. 48 days ago, I stopped pretending I had control. I knew what alcohol was doing to me… and I kept choosing it anyway. It wasn’t fun anymore. It was routine. It was escape. And somewhere along the way, I became someone I didn’t recognize. These 48 days haven’t been easy. I’ve had to sit with everything I used to numb— the anxiety, the guilt, the silence. There are still moments I think about going back. But I don’t. Because for me, one drink isn’t just one drink… it’s the start of losing everything again. So today, I choose to stay. 48 days ago, I gave up alcohol. Today, I’m starting to get myself back. Day 48. Still here. Still fighting.
