Geez, I'm using voice for everything now. Searches, Slack conversations, even this tweet. Prevents typos and gets ideas down So many tools for this; @tryvoiceink is what I use. It's open source + compilable from source, runs on device, no subscriptions

@code_kartik Sounds great, why did you choose web tech over native though?

CleanShot X is great. The subscription isn’t. So I built Better Shot an open-source, native macOS screenshot tool using Tauri + Rust. Fast. Local. Free forever. Try it → bettershot.site Source code included. No bullshit.

@jaredpalmer My chromium builds (self-hosted) take 3 hours. 1 build would cost me $0.70. Please reconsider this.

We’re postponing the announced billing change for self-hosted GitHub Actions. The 39% price reduction for hosted runners will continue as planned (on January 1) We missed the opportunity to gather feedback from the community ahead of this move. That's a huge L. We'll learn and do better in the future. Actions is critical infrastructure for millions of developers and we're committed to making it a world‑class compute product. Although we gave away 11.5 billion build minutes (~$184 million) to support OSS last year, Actions itself is not free. There are real, web-scale costs associated with the service and behind the control plane (for logs, artifacts, caching, redis, egress, engineering, support, etc) for both hosted and self-hosted runners. We eventually need to find a way to price it properly while also partnering and fostering the rest of the ecosystem. However, we clearly missed some steps here, and so we’re correcting course. You all trust Actions with your most important workflows, and that trust comes with a responsibility we didn't live up to. The way forward is to listen more, ship with the community, and raise the bar together.

We’ve read your posts and heard your feedback. 1. We’re postponing the announced billing change for self-hosted GitHub Actions to take time to re-evaluate our approach. 2. We are continuing to reduce hosted-runners prices by up to 39% on January 1, 2026. We have real costs in running the Actions control plane. We are also making investments into self-hosted runners so they work at scale in customer environments, particularly for complex enterprise scenarios. While this context matters, we missed the mark with this change by not including more of you in our planning. We need to improve GitHub Actions. We’re taking more time to meet and listen closely to developers, customers, and partners to start. We’ve also opened a discussion to collect more direct feedback and will use that feedback to inform the GitHub Actions roadmap. We’re working hard to earn your trust through consistent delivery across GitHub Actions and the entire platform.
