IPSA has proposed a 5% pay rise for MPs.
But for the staff who handle casework, answer calls and keep parliamentary offices running?
Just 3.5%, and even that’s uncertain.
If rising workloads justify a rise at the top, fairness should apply across Parliament.

Breed specific legislation banning dogs has only been brought in by Tory govts (1991 act and the 2023 extension to cover XL bullies)

🚨 UPDATE: Manchester Council hit back at claims of illegal family voting in Gorton and Denton
"Polling station staff are trained to look out for any evidence of undue influence on voters. No such issues have been reported today.
"If Democracy Volunteers were so concerned about alleged issues they could and should have raised them with us during polling hours so that immediate action could be taken. We have operated a central by-election hub which was has been rapidly responding to reported issues during the day, in liaison with the police - who had a presence at every polling station - where necessary.
"It is extremely disappointing that Democracy Volunteers have waited until after polls have closed to make such claims"

I’ve been out knocking doors all day. I’ve seen many *many* greens, but they’ve all been on street corners waving corexes and not a single one knocking a door.
No chance they’ve been able to match Labour on contacts.

I am relieved that Peter Mandelson is no longer a member of the Labour Party.
He should no longer sit in the House of Lords.
He must fully cooperate with police investigations including into his own conduct.

NEW: Keir Starmer says Peter Mandelson should resign from the House of Lords after it emerged he leaked sensitive government information to Jeffrey Epstein while he was business secretary. Documents released by the US Department of Justice appear to show Mandelson forwarded internal Downing Street emails about tax policy to Epstein while he served under Gordon Brown in 2009. A private memo written by a senior adviser in Brown’s office on June 13 that year discussed potential tax incentives to encourage private sector investment following the financial crisis, as well as some £20 billion of possible asset sales to reduce government debt. The documents appear to show Mandelson sent the internal No10 emails to Epstein, adding: “Interesting note that’s gone to the PM.” Epstein replied to Mandelson asking: “What salable assets?” Mandelson responded: “Land, property I guess.” Starmer’s spokesman says this morning: “The prime minister believes that Peter Mandelson should not be a member of the House of Lords.” He says the government would cooperate with any police investigation.
