We get mad when men say they are the price but they might be right

Going back for a Master’s and PhD simply because you want your husband to be given 30 minutes to introduce his wife at any gathering is valid, right?

Fuel for what? Run to work, run to the store, run to the village, run to SA
tío Metumo@sir_dris
So even us with Two Oceans Marathon medals we are also just paying the same price for fuel as everyone else? Wow unfair!😭😭😭

@MekondjoKondja wrote it well. I will just say it from my experience as a Coach and Recruiter.
One of the biggest career mistakes I see today is professionals collecting qualifications without a strategy.
Qualifications without a clear direction.
As an HR Consultant and Recruiter, I often review CVs where qualifications do not speak to each other. There is no clear professional identity or career pathway being built.
Sometimes people are studying because of pressure as Mekondjo said.
• Society says “study further.”
• LinkedIn makes everyone look accomplished.
• Friends and colleagues are graduating.
• There is fear of being left behind.
So we keep enrolling.
The challenge is that qualifications alone do not automatically build careers.
The real question is:
Who are you becoming professionally?
Before studying further, ask yourself:
• What role am I preparing for?
• What skill gap am I trying to close?
• Does this qualification align with my long-term career goals?
• Will this improve my employability or am I just collecting certificates?
Your qualifications should tell a story of growth and alignment.
The job market is also changing. Employers are increasingly moving toward skills-based hiring. They want to know:
Can you lead?
Can you communicate?
Can you solve problems?
Can you manage people?
Can you think strategically?
Can you deliver results?
A qualification without practical application, experience, visibility, and continuous growth becomes limited in value.
Sometimes what a professional truly needs is:
• Exposure
• Mentorship
• Leadership experience
• Confidence
• Communication skills
• Technical competence
• Emotional intelligence
• A stronger work ethic
• Industry visibility
Study with intention, with purpose and with alignment.
Your career is not a storage room for certificates. It is a strategic journey.
