I have 3 people close to me who suffer from bipolar disorder.
One of them (a team member) tragically took his own life.
He was an extremely talented and normally quiet young man, trained as an accountant.
His symptoms in manic episodes were consistent with Ye’s. He would go on public anti-Semitic and racist rants on social media.
He would always emerge from these episodes with deep shame. Apologising to me, his friends, family and our team for his behaviour.
There was not a bad bone in his body.
One time I had to hunt him down in London in-person in the middle of the night to try to help save his life.
Anti-semitism is abhorrent and unacceptable.
But mental illness is extremely complex and if we don’t have a path for treating and helping people with disorders like bipolar - unfortunately will we have many more people take their own lives.
The UK govt should let Ye into the UK or it sends a very negative message to millions of people who suffer from similar conditions.
Rest in peace Alex - I know you have finally found the peace you were looking and I’m sorry the world could not provide it to you. ❤️

I was online throughout the episode last year
It is easy to just paste a screenshot where he said “I am nazi” but if you follow the whole outburst you will know he lost it and was frustrated with the fact he can’t access his kids
He said horrible things but he has apologized and has been of good behavior since….even that nazi statement he still made a tweet saying after talking to someone he realize he isn’t a Nazi
You can witness that episode and think it was all intention,he was basically asking them to kill him
People talk about mental awareness but still act mean to the those suffering from it
