@LessonsHeroes

I explore a mixture of self improvement and comics/movies/fantasy/gaming topics. My main interest, is where the two meet - what can we learn from our heroes?

@icomicind I think I'll be reading it is what I think! Always been a fan of Ben and loved the Clone Wars story.

@arc_blog I don't mind heroes fighting. But what DOES grind my gears is how they aren't recoiling in the direction Spidey hits them!

This page from Millar and McNiven’s Civil War makes the rounds every so often and while I found it really rad as a 15 year old it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth now. The best part of Marvel comics, to me, are the relationships between characters and Millar just broke them

1. Star Trek TNG is not an ideal & optimistic vision of humanity's future. It is a vision of the perfect workplace: everyone gets where they are on skill, workers are encouraged & thrive for excellence, communication is open and transparent, cooperation & loyalty are valued...

There's much to learn from the first episode of Star Trek, TNG - Encounter at Farpoint! Picard demonstrates some savvy debate skills, and there's a nice message about learning from the past and becoming better for it lessonsfromheroes.com/tng-s1-e1-less…

@PopMythology Yeah it's right up my street. A friend once described chi to me as "harmony". Like a powerful kick is due to harmony of the movement - the biomechanics are optimal, everything moving at the right angles, muscles contracting at the right time etc.

The superhero in you: TEDx talk by @E_PaulZehr. I like the advice "Be good at many things." A wider perspective can transfer to deeper learning/better skill in your specialist field. "Range" is a good book about this. youtube.com/watch?v=igInDY…

Pattinson's workout routine. A lot of people saying it's all cardio - but it depends what exercises he did in his "sandbag training." We haven't seen the results, but without dedicated weight lifting, seems we're getting a lithe, streamlined Batman. movieweb.com/the-batman-rob…

Creativity doesn't result from 10,000 hours of deliberate practice, but 10,000 hours of exploration. Expertise is characterized by efficiency, whereas creativity is characterized by lots of trial and error. Picasso said he often didn't know where he was going until he got there.
