people underrate Cal so much. The offense he brought was unheard of at SS before him. He is the first SS to hit 20 or more hrs in at least 10 seasons. According to stats, he should have had another MVP in 1984 and was snubbed of about 7 gold gloves. His stats show top 30 but people rank him in the 40s. He had some of the most elite defensive seasons but was never given credit for. This is NOT overrated stuff... It tells me people dont actually know what he really did... He wasn't an outfielder or a 1st baseman but is somehow put down more than most bc he didnt have their stats as a SS... Very underrated.

@uscfan981 Nah. I get where you are coming from and understand your position. Absolutely nobody was ever more overrated than Cal Ripken. NOBODY. EVER. I saw him play. He was very good. A very good player. A stat accumulater.

Cal Ripken's streak has to be on this list. No one has ever come close to Gehrig except Ripken in MLB history....and he passed Gehrig by 500 games. Players now get rested even when healthy so the change in philosophy makes the impossible even more impossible....if that's possible.
