Viele Medien diskutieren darüber, ob sich 2015 wiederholt und ob wir irgendetwas gelernt haben? Hier einige Gedanken.

@DrEmmaZang i see the problem!other take: healthy migrant hypothesis also states health~earnings capacity.healthier richer ppl leave, sicker ppl with less money stay.practitioners are incentivized to settle where more ppl can afford premium version of health insurance>also leave for the city

@MMactang Thanks! But if the growing gap is driven by healthier ppl moving to cities, the health burden in rural areas won't change (i.e., have the same number of people with obesity)?

Need some help to convince a reviewer: Why is the growing obesity disparity by urbanicity (at an aggregate level) concerning? The reviewer seems to think it's likely driven by selective migration (healthier ppl move to cities), so we shouldn't concern about the growing gap.

@hardsci I get the idea that institutions are obliged to make a statement, but it feels really hipocritical when they're somehow involved in the context, by either collaborating with the arms industry or funding neo-eugenics ("race realist") research

@HauptSoc Vor allem wird in der absoluten Mehrheit der Studien die mit repräsentativen Daten und diesem Armutsmaß arbeiten so gut wie nie so ein extrem Ausreißer wie ein Becker oder Quandt berücksichtigt. Cut Off liegt doch meistens irgendwo bei 10-15 Tsd netto pro Monat.

methods: using 7 SOEP data waves (2006-2018) of n=5990 repondents in a longitudinal SEM approach, we successively set equal factor loadings and intercepts of the latent constructs physical and mental health; each across migration groups and waves (4/4)

health of migrants, especially from non-european countries, might have even worse health conditions than usually concluded. this result might point to the „artefact“ explanation of the healthy migrant effect (3/4)

Drinking at least 5 glasses of wine per week also reduces the risk of making causal claims based on an observational study with a selection on observable design.
