The Islamic Republic of Iran has just been nominated to the UN Committee for Programme and Coordination to shape policy on women's rights, human rights, disarmament and terrorism prevention.
The British government, of course, did not object to Iran’s appointment — even though the Iranian regime has been massacring thousands and thousands of protestors this year.
At least it shows satire is not dead.
NEXT UP> Satan nominated to investigate sin.

The King will deliver a rousing address to the nation to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's life and legacy. The monarch will also, alongside Queen Camilla, host a special reception at Buckingham Palace, for dozens of representatives from organisations and charities with a deep connection to our late queen.
The King and Queen, who are currently residing at their Birkhall home in Scotland on the Balmoral estate, will return to London on April 21, when the sovereign’s speech will be broadcast to the nation and the Commonwealth. @rjmyers

On this day in 1896, Edwin “Teddy” Flack – a 22-year-old accountant from Melbourne – did Australia proud at the first modern Olympic Games in Athens.
Flack didn’t wait for an official invitation or a national committee to send him. He took leave from his London accounting firm, travelled six days by ship and train, and showed up as Australia’s sole representative.
By the end of the Games, he was known as “The Lion of Athens”. He had won gold in both the 800 and 1500 metres, picked up a bronze in doubles tennis for good measure, and even attempted the marathon – a distance he had never run before.
Australia was still a collection of colonies in 1896 – no flag, no anthem, no national Olympic committee. But Flack ran in the dark blue of his Melbourne school, representing an idea of Australia before it had even officially been born.
We have never missed a summer Games since.

@AFP @NGVMelbourne any chance of bringing this exhibition to Melbourne as part of the Winter Masterpiece series?

Queen Elizabeth II's fashion takes centre stage at Buckingham Palace exhibition.
The new exhibition pays tribute to the fashion of Queen Elizabeth II, in what is the largest display of her clothes ever mounted. The exhibition runs until October 18 and marks 100 years since the late monarch's birth

@AshPolitik You deserve every bit of blowback you get for this retarded post.

@RonnyLerner @TroySmith90 I was also there that day from the other perspective. A Fitzroy supporter sitting in the Ted Whitten stand watching this enormous stream of Swans supporters moving from end to end each quarter. It was a remarkable sight and a dark day for the Fitzroy FC.
English

@TroySmith90 Thanks for sharing that. What a great story and what a memory!

I was at that game in 1995 as a 4 year old. I remember my Mum taking me to the end the Swans were kicking at for each quarter just to see Plugger kick goal after goal.
A day I will never forget and one of my best memories with my late Mum who would have turned 63 today.

128 points is the Swans’ biggest ever winning margin on the road as either the Swans or South Melbourne, surpassing their previous best of 126 v Fitzroy when Plugger kicked 16 at the Western Oval in 1995 #AFLEaglesSwans

Just played a staring role against the team his former side complains about incessantly.

Told by the Saints to look elsewhere... what a pick-up Jack Steele has been for the Dees so far! ⭐ #9WWOS #AFLDeesSuns

@rtralphy How is it that the nepo babies that the Saints complain about incessantly get rolled by a team of drafted kids that includes St Kilda’s former captain whom they moved on. A bad day for the Moorabbin narrative.
English

Sook Kilda: the club you have been whinging about with all their academy stars just got beaten by the team with no academy stars that included your former captain that you got rid of.

@Haydenfreedom Those players are carrying some real mental scaring late in matches. They seem to just seize up.

Sack Voss.
Carlton have done everything they can for him. 10 years as a coach and he still can’t do it
It’s time

@ImtiazMadmood Probably should dress them in Shia garb. The Sunni’s in Saudi and UAE have shown far more courage than these two.
