As the son of a firefighter, I have seen the grief felt across the fire service when a colleague is lost in the line of duty. To lose two firefighters in such tragic circumstances is absolutely heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers are with their families and colleagues.

As someone formally responsible for Public Order Training for the Met, I can say with confidence that the narrative being put around re this video is nonsense. The training shown is designed to test officers in worst-case scenarios.

Recently been receiving scam/phishing text messages. The latest relates to winter fuel allowances and claims to be from the 'home office'! If you receive a suspicious text message DON'T click on links, report it and block it.

27 years ago today, I joined the Met. Passing out from Hendon was a very proud moment for me. I'm still proud of what I do. It has extra resonance today being Father's Day, as I remember my late dad and his service in the London Fire Brigade
