Caribbean people will talk about how they can’t understand the Bajan accent but will sing a Jordan English song word for word — how da happen

A yt British woman singing "will you eat saltfish for the visa?" "Will you show me a trick for the visa?" Nothing about that is 'harmless fun'. Especially when she herself up & down in & out all across the region. She knows her privilege. She chooses to make a mockery of it all

@lukeyism Whether she will admit it or not, Caribbean boost her ego. She is a big yt fish in a small pond in the islands. Where else would she make music from cultures she didn’t grow up in, have DJs play the mediocre tunes and be interviewed on radio for simply travelling?

She is insidious. She leverages her privilege to exploit the goodwill of Caribbean people, knowing that the reverse would not happen if they were in her country. She knows very well that people only entertain her nonsense because of her skin color.

People are treating tht girl like she is just some poor innocent white girl enjoying West Indian culture, traveling the islands, soaking up the sun and having fun. She should be treated the same way you would behave if you came home and found an albino roach in the kitchen

I think it differs depending on what era you grew up in. I agree the way its spoken about often is corny but also think theres space to have an honest convo about what was happening at the time and the effect it had/has. Im surprised so many people I knew are dead when I reflect

I feel like people often speak about South London (particularly south east) in an alarmist manner that can sometimes come across as a little corny. Were there real fears, and postcode wars? Absolutely, but wasn’t this in most areas in London during a certain era.

No acknowledgment for Dot Rotten at the MOBOs was wrong. Industry has to do better

Must watch and share clip of Lebanese journalist @RaniaKhalek on Piers Morgan: “As a Lebanese person asking me to condemn resistance to a brutal supremacist settler colony is like asking a Jew in the 1940s to condemn resistance to Nazi Germany. My entire life my family and my people have been subjected to constant aggression, war crimes, torture, rape, and land theft by Israel. They’ve currently displaced over 1 million people and now Israel’s finance minister is saying they’re going to annex Southern Lebanon, depopulate it of Lebanese, and replace it with Jewish settlers just like they did in the West Bank.”

According to reports (we already knew though), Black music drives 80% of UK music revenue. Despite this, the MOBO awards is not broadcast on television 🙄

If I hear “Haitians are so resilient” one more time, I might actually lose it. Resilience isn’t some cute personality trait- it’s what people are forced into when the world keeps failing them. What other choice do they have?

The US is literally doing to Cuba what it did to Haiti, & going as far as to call 🇨🇺 a failed state after choking the country to death, just like it did to 🇭🇹. White supremacy will bring death to you & blame you for dying, all b/c POC must be exploited in racial capitalism.
Jean Jacques Dessalines 🇭🇹🇵🇸🇳🇪🇲🇱🇧🇫🇨🇺@JeanJacquesDes7

The reason why Castro’s socialist revolution is able to outlived Castro & is still going on strong even under the pressure of the empire’s collective punishment of sanctions, is b/c Castro reminded his people that w/o the revolution, the 🇺🇸 would do to 🇨🇺 what it is doing to 🇭🇹.

Cuba has a proven and consistent track record of helping so many countries not just in the Caribbean but elsewhere during natural disasters, humanitarian crises and just in general. To see so many countries turn their backs on them right now is unbelievable.
