Our November service project for our RES Student Council was collecting canned food items for people in our community who may need extra help right now. Our students stepped up in a huge way and we are so proud of their giving hearts! ❤️ We collected a total of 3,658.

It was an honor to have this group with us today! We appreciate their commitment to local education!

Dr. Heath Grimes, Russellville City Schools Superintendent, is excited to have ALSDE EL Coordinator, Maria Franco, visiting his district to see how the Alabama Literacy Act is impacting EL instruction.

Now is the time to contact your legislature and advocate for the Alabama Literacy Act to include a good cause exemption for EL students that are still acquiring language skills, matching current research that states EL students need 5-7 years acquire language proficiency.

To our community, especially our veterans: We invite you to join us for our Veterans Day Program on Wed., Nov. 10, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. at the RCS Auditorium. Our elementary students will honor our veterans & the many sacrifices they each made while serving our great country. 🇺🇸

To show our support for fallen Sheffield Police Sgt. Nick Risner we will be wearing BLUE tomorrow in his memory. For us at RCS, we’d also like to dedicate this gesture to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver & family in the unexpected loss of his wife yesterday. 💙

Russellville City Schools will be CLOSED TOMORROW, August 31, 2021, due to the potential for storms and possible flooding as the remnants of Hurricane Ida pass through our area. School and activities will resume as normal on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.
