Just left the theater. MK II breaks the sequel curse from “Armageddon” in the 90’s. Looks like a 3rd’s in the works. It’s funny what they choose to focus on and what to skim over. But it’s “Mortal Kombat”; it’s bloody, violent, over the top.

@iScreamFGC I like that they brought back the same music - but it sounds too clean and the voice announcing the names doesn't sound as ominous and deep and rough nor is it in sync with the song - it's lagging a beat behind.

Mortal Kombat 2 Highlights: 1.) Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Should def get their own standalone project. 2.) Kitana is the standout. Even more so than Johnny Cage imo. 3.) Fight choreo and editing is a vast improvement compared to the last film! 4.) Martyn Ford’s Shao is peak!

Mortal Kombat 2 was solid. Not the greatest story, but the action delivered, especially the fatalities. Karl Urban was surprisingly good as Johnny Cage, and they finally got rid of Cole Young, the worst character in the MK franchise. Highlight of course was the entertaining fights, with Kung Lao vs Liu Kang leading the way. I suspect we'll see those two again in MK3.

@BeyondReporter_ good - they listened - this film felt way more balanced - almost everyone got their fair share of screen time based on their tier of importance - Liu, Kitana, Sonya and Johnny plus Raiden will always be the core squad.

Cole Young has approximately 50 minutes of screen time in Mortal Kombat 1. In Mortal Kombat 2 he has 3 minutes of screen time.
