Again, she didn’t break the law. Laws are written and will be broken. Broken laws come with DUE PROCESS consequences. Consequences should be relative to the law that was broken. Each branch of government has its role: Legislative—Write laws Executive—Enforce laws Judicial—Interpret laws When the Executive branch overreaches into the Judicial branch, and cause irreversible damage, like loss of life, it sabotages faith in law. Officers can’t be Judge, Jury, and Executioner on the streets, ultimately forfeiting our constitutional rights to a fair and speedy trial. There are checks and balances. Unfortunately, our balance is off, and many don’t want to check it. Dehumanizing people makes it easy to say “That’s what she gets!” “They’re nothing but criminals, serves them right!” It’s hard to accept responsibility when actions become fatal. So the narrative needs the dehumanization to justify its offense…the more complacent people become with it, the less we value one another. TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.
