People have a right to peaceful protest. It is core to our country’s values. But we will not stand for assaults on police officers doing their job or for people feeling intimidated on our streets because of their background or the colour of their skin. Britain is a nation proudly built on tolerance, diversity and respect. Our flag represents our diverse country and we will never surrender it to those that use it as a symbol of violence, fear and division.

Wow what a day today?! We smashed it. Hundreds of thousands of proud citizens peacefully making themselves heard. Standing up for our country, in stark contrast to the establishment. The question I was repeatedly asked before today: “If invited would you speak on 13 September?” Of course I would! I believe in democracy and the British people. Today was my chance to speak directly to them. The real question is: where were the other self professed democratic political leaders? With my exception there was none present today. Why?
