Thankfully, I have picked a brilliant team who have made me feel super welcome and supported despite these pressures and challenges, it is so important to put ourselves first during this scary transition period 💜

However, now it is actively affecting me and my work. Staffing levels are dangerous. Safe nursing is compromised due to lack of staff. Supernumerary status’ are not held, expectations are too high and burn out is real.

Made it through my first month of being a RN and let me tell you, it is WILD. Although I have felt overwhelmed and out of my depth at times, my confidence and knowledge is growing significantly. Acute medicine is a whole different style of nursing and I’m here for it.
