Our S4 done us all proud yesterday on our trip to Liverpool. We explored the International Slavery Museum, Museum of Liverpool, Albert Dock and Liverpool One and a wonderful time was had by all! @SpringburnSP

S4 health and food tech designed their own healthy product which met 3 current dietary goals of their choice. They identified all nutrients in their recipe and conducted a dietary analysis of the portion compared to the DRV for a teenager 😋👏🥇 @springburnacad @SpringburnSP

S5/6 Practical Cake Craft have been practicing the finishing technique ‘stencilling’ using edible paint and lustre dust 🖌️🎨 @springburnacad @SpringburnSP

N5 Practical Cake/Bakery class made lemon meringue pie today 🥧 a great product to learn about shortening, aeration, gelatinisation while practicing piping 😋 @springburnacad @SpringburnSP

And just like that....seniors smashing it with their initial design ideas. 😊

S4 practical cookery had the whole corridor smelling great this afternoon with their spaghetti bolognaise. They were demonstrating cookery processes; boiling, simmering and frying while using sensory descriptions to evaluate the appearance, texture and taste 😋 @SpringburnSP

NPA Bakery have started their pastry unit with the first product apple turnovers 🍎 they have been learning about fat to flour ratio and fault finding when making and handing puff pastry vs short crust pastry 🥐 yum 😋 @SpringburnSP

We are so impressed with the majority of pupils who have brought their own container to take food home after practical lessons. Mrs Kerrigan has sent an email to all parents to remind them of our food waste policy and how to request a free reusable container for your child 🥡🫙📦
