Prediction: Oral Roberts will no longer hold the Summit League’s last NCAA Tournament win after this season. Multi-bid leagues the last two years: ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Conference USA, Big East, and @TheSummitLeague. Attention: Kansas City, Saint Paul, Tulsa, Omaha, Brookings, Vermillion, Grand Forks, and Fargo: get ready for some great volleyball this season. 🏐🔥

@MattBrownEP Fun fact from the article: The average budget for an at-large bid program in 2024 was $2.7 million. Only three programs that earned at-large bids spent less than $2 million. @GoJacksVB spent $999,208 less than the next closest at-large bid program.

Great info from @MattBrownEP on volleyball operating budgets. No data for Oral Roberts or St. Thomas, but surprising to see UND spend the most while SDSU (31-1 in Summit League play over the last 2 years) spent the least. NDSU/Mountain West fun fact: Wyoming spent $2.3M+ on volleyball 👀

No game notes yet for @OmahaVB from last night. Based on the Creighton match notes, ORU transfer Hayden Hart had an excellent performance and looks like a strong addition for the Mavericks this season.

Hopefully the Bison are taking notes from the Fargo Force marketing team. I’m not sure I’ve experienced a better in-person fan atmosphere. Would love to see the promotional side of the volleyball fan experience take a step forward this season.

The @Twins should be handing @katiemerrick14 the keys to the franchise. Selling out 4,700 seats for USHL hockey with a Savannah Bananas–style fan experience should put her at the top of every short list. Few marketing teams meet my expectations, this one does.

Props to @SDCoyotesVB for building a strong following on X. Coyotes volleyball support is at a Power 5 level, with more followers than programs like Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, and West Virginia. @OmahaVB ranks #2 in the league in followers, while @GoJacksVB, @NDSUvolleyball, and @UNDvolleyball are all battling for the #3 spot. One of my goals with this account is to help elevate the following for each Summit League program in 2026. This league has the potential to be something special. If anyone has ideas or suggestions, feel free to reach out, always open to ways to grow the game.

Nice to hear some spring volleyball coverage on the YoteCast this week, with Gabi Zachariasen joining the show. She talked about how South Dakota continues to grow as a volleyball state with a pair of strong DI programs, along with her recruiting process and the benefits of enrolling early. She might be a nap queen off the court, but she’ll bring high energy on the court this season.

Saturday will be a great day of volleyball at First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, with both South Dakota and South Dakota State in action at the SDSU Spring Tournament. The Coyotes will face MSU Moorhead, St. Cloud State, Jamestown, and Concordia–St. Paul, while the Jackrabbits take on St. Cloud State, Concordia–St. Paul, and MSU Mankato. Fun day to say the least. @SDCoyotesVB @GoJacksVB

With Summit League spring volleyball starting this week, it’s a great time to relive my Top 10 matches to watch from the 2025 season on @MidcoSports 🏐 Summit Championship: St. Thomas over South Dakota State (11/25) Coach Pham and nine seniors reached the Summit, winning the automatic bid in their first year of eligibility. Summit Semifinals: St. Thomas over South Dakota (11/24) The Tommies rallied from down 2–1 to win in five, with freshman Anya Schmidt coming up big with 19 kills. Summit Quarterfinal: North Dakota State over Denver (11/23) The Bison rallied from down 14–10 in the fifth set to end the Pioneers time in the Summit, thanks in large part to Baily Randall’s 17 kills and Zoe John adding a season-high 13. South Dakota State over South Dakota (11/1) What more can you ask for? Archrivals, 12 combined Summit regular-season or tournament championships, five sets, 2,563 fans at First Bank & Trust Arena, and the best player in the league, Sylvie Zgonc, delivering 24 kills with a .327 hitting percentage. South Florida over Omaha (9/19) Not the result Summit League fans wanted, but it’s tough not to enjoy a match with sets finishing 38–36 and 30–28 if you like drama. South Dakota over Omaha (10/11) Lauren Medeck had 23 kills, 12 digs, and two blocks for the Coyotes in the five-set win at Omaha. South Dakota State over Omaha (10/30) The Jackrabbits needed all five sets to get the win in Omaha. Kali Jurgensmeier had 21 kills, 15 digs, and six blocks for the Mavericks in a losing effort, while Madison Burr had 15 kills, three aces, and nine blocks for the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State over Ole Miss (9/5) Sweeping a Top 60 Massey team from the SEC never gets old. Madison Burr hit .500 for the match while adding six blocks. South Dakota over Villanova (9/18) Beating a previously undefeated Top 80 Massey team from the Big East never gets old. Morgan Bode hit .448 with a career-high 16 kills and a career-best three solo blocks to lead the Coyotes. North Dakota State over St. Thomas (11/13) Lauren Jansen put on a show for the Bison with 21 kills while hitting .400 and adding five digs. Zoe John chipped in 11 kills to help NDSU win 3–1 over the eventual tournament champions.
