We have reached a key technical milestone in the Estonian pilot of the Drastic Project. The team successfully demonstrated the full assembly and disassembly cycle of prefabricated timber-framed insulation panels developed for building renovation in Estonia. The pilot validated reversible mechanical connections, panel modularity, and handling procedures required to enable design for disassembly in façade retrofit systems. The results confirm that prefabricated timber panel solutions can support: • component reuse and material recovery • reduced construction and demolition waste • improved adaptability of renovation systems • accelerated on-site installation with controlled dismantling pathways This milestone provides valuable technical evidence for scalable circular renovation strategies and further optimization of panel joint design, logistics, and lifecycle performance. 🌱🏗️ #Drasticproject #DesignForDisassembly #CircularConstruction #TimberConstruction #DeepRenovation

The first façade elements are currently being manufactured at Timbeco’s factory for the Akadeemia tee project. The building’s façade will be finished with Swisspearl facade board, a durable and contemporary material that supports both high quality and long-term performance. Factory-produced façade elements ensure precision, consistent quality, and an efficient installation process on site. The completed elements will soon be delivered to the site, where the building’s exterior will begin to take its final shape. More updates coming soon as the project continues to move forward.

🚀 The roof elements for the Akadeemia tee reconstruction project have entered production at the Timbeco factory! The reconstruction of four residential buildings in Mustamäe (Akadeemia tee 4, 6, 14 and 22) is one of the most innovative housing renovation projects in Estonia. For the first time in the country, factory-produced insulated roof elements are being used, ensuring high quality, faster construction, and significantly reduced disturbance for residents during the works. All four buildings will be among the first in Estonia to receive these factory-made insulated roof elements. A big thank you to the entire Timbeco factory team and to the main contractor Everster for their trust and excellent cooperation! The roof elements will be finished with high-quality Protan PVC roofing membrane, providing long-term durability, weather resistance, and reliability in our climate. The Protan solution is optimized for both energy efficiency and low maintenance, making it an ideal choice for modernized residential buildings. 👉 More information about the SOFTacademy project: softacademy.ee #SOFTacademy #reconstruction #prefabrication #Timbeco #Everster #Protan #constructioninnovation #housingdevelopment

Yesterday, we signed two contracts with Revin Grupp OÜ for the renovation of apartment buildings in Iisaku, Ida-Virumaa. Timbeco’s role in both projects is the production and installation of insulated façade elements. Factory-produced renovation offers clear benefits for housing associations: ✅ Convenience – elements are installed quickly using a crane, without scaffolding, minimizing disruption for residents. ✅ Cost certainty – a single partner manages the entire process, from design to installation. ✅ Quality – factory-produced elements and fast installation reduce weather-related risks. 💡 Good news: an increasing number of apartment building types are now suitable for factory-produced façade renovation. KredEx’s new application round is open until October 15, 2025, with a total funding pool of €80 million. All regions are treated equally – budgets are not allocated by county. The funding rate for comprehensive renovations is up to 50%, with applications prioritized based on energy consumption (kWh/m² per year). For buildings with equal energy performance, larger buildings are given priority. 👉 More information: kodudkorda.ee We are proud to contribute to both Estonia’s energy-efficient future and the development of the Ida-Virumaa region! 💚

🪚 🛠️How can Design for Assembly and Disassembly be better integrated, scored and used in the construction sector? 🪚 🛠️ @TalTech and Timbeco, #DrasticProject partners leading Drastic’s Estonian Demonstrator, hosted a Co-Creation Workshop on September 18th, in collaboration with fellow project partner, @maastrichtuniversity Sustainability Institute 🔗As part of the workshop, experts and stakeholders from the construction value chain were invited to dive into passionate and impactful discussions on how design for Assembly and Disassembly (DfAD) can be better integrated, scored and used within the construction sector. 🏗️ 💡The workshop captured the excitement and momentum of recent project developments and activities at Drastic project. 🗺️The workshop started with Head of circularity and financing at Ministry of the Climate of Estonia Mihkel Krusberg who began the workshop with a discussion on Circular economy policies in Europe and Estonia. 🏭♻️ Eero Nigumann from Timbeco, introduced circular renovation solutions and developments made in Drastic project. 📋 📈 Targo Kalamees from TalTech, introduced scoring principles of design for Assembly and Disassembly. 📚 Hannah Lou Kings, Maastricht Sustainability Institute, presented Nancy Bocken's research on new circular business models and introduced her PhD work with a framework utilized during the workshop. The group then focused on: 💡 How to make circular product affordable so the price would be the same or cheaper than regulaar product? ♻️ How to use products from circulation? Do we need to certify the product? Who would certify the product? How to ensure the supply chain? 🏢 Building on top/extending the Building as an alternatiive funding solution? Solving Access to apartments with Building on top of the existing building and adding elevators. TalTech and Timbeco will continue to work alongside its fellow Drastic partners with the aim of building a better, more circular and sustainable future together! 💪♻️🌏 Learn more about Drastic and its mission 👉 drasticproject.eu #Sustainability #Collaboration #EcosystemThinking
