Gin distilling days start early. I like to ride my bike as often as I can as it helps get my mind in the right place. And I can also treat myself to something good in my coffee when I get to the shop!

@RiseOfAlberta That's exactly right. I f anyone needs an example I would recommend looking at the map of Europe from 1918 to 2000. Many changes, some from conquest, others due to cultural and demographic factors. Borders are rarely static.

The idea of Alberta independence is only “extreme” if you ignore history. Norway left Sweden. Slovakia left Czechoslovakia. Ireland left the UK. Borders have changed throughout history. Alberta independence is not some absurd idea. It is part of a normal historical pattern.

Andrew's post of me sitting alone by the side of the road generated a lot of hate. Water off a duck's back. I've sat at this location 32 days out of the last 60. I'm usually there for 4-5 hours, often accompanied by my wife Karen and other dedicated canvassers, who believe strongly that the best future for us and our children is an independent Alberta. People try to mock me by saying I should get a job, a life, or that I look lonely. I have all those things, and I'm definitely not lonely. To me, canvassing like this is deeply meditative....similar to hiking or fishing alone. I just sit there with my book, waiting for the next signature, contemplating life. I actually feel sorry for the people mocking me, because I know that deep down, they're the ones missing a purpose in life. I almost stayed home yesterday because it's Easter weekend, and the kid's were coming over for a visit. In the end I balance everthing. I canvassed for a few hours, had some very good conversations with fellow Albertans, and still got to have a nice dinner with my family. In the end I got 20 signatures. But like fishing and other endeavours, good things are seldom easy. I'm all-in for a better future.

The admirable @Martyupnorth at his usual spot on 1A west of Calgary. This man's commitment is incredible. #AlbertaIndependence

@DanWMcLean It would be nice to see legal action against Gondek and Nenshi on this. Misappropriation of tax dollars should be considered theft. Time for accountability.

I feel betrayed as well⬇️ “Between 2016 and 2025, the water dividend ranged from $106 million to $114 million, or more than $1.1 billion cumulatively. It bears mention that all this occurred on the watch of aggressively progressive former mayors Naheed Nenshi and Jyoti Gondek”

As true God and true man, Christ offers us the example of self-giving, service, and love. We need His example to learn how to love, not because we are incapable of it, but precisely to teach ourselves and one another what true love is. Learning to act like Jesus, who is the living sign that God has placed within the history of the world, is the work of a lifetime. #HolyThursday

It almost seems like the Liberals are trying to force Albertans into voting out of Confederation. Or is Carney saying "FU Alberta, I dare you to!" Or do they just truly not care? I'm having a hard time trying to wrap my head around it. I'm leaning towards they don't care but who knows. One thing I know for sure is a 2% GST increase on top of the excise tax increase that kicked in April 1 will hurt my business big time. Once again the federal government is double dipping.

Ayn Rand’s 1957 warning is hitting way too close to home in 2026. When you need endless permission from people who produce nothing just to get a business moving, the system is broken. We need to stop rewarding "pull" and start rewarding the people actually "pushing" the work. 🇨🇦

🚨 BREAKING: Danielle Smith Just Dropped the Hammer on Alberta’s Out-of-Control Unions and Immigration Chaos with Bills 25 & 26! Smith isn’t playing games. While Ottawa floods the province with record immigration and union bosses push their woke agenda in classrooms, she's fighting back HARD. Bill 25 guts politics and ideology from our schools once and for all. No more rainbow flags flying over every school, no more teachers turning classrooms into activist camps, and no more union-driven indoctrination. Canadian and Alberta flags only. National anthem played weekly. Teachers forced to stay neutral on hot-button issues. The Alberta Teachers’ Association is already melting down... because their grip on our kids’ minds just got crushed. Enough is enough. Our children deserve education, not propaganda. Yesterday's Bill 26 takes back control of immigration from Ottawa. New employer registry for foreign workers. Licensing for shady recruiters and consultants. Finally some oversight to stop fake job offers, illegal fees, and exploitation of slave workers. This protects Alberta jobs, housing, and services from being overwhelmed. Smith proves she's done letting federal chaos dictate our future.... and that she doesn't need a referendum to address thses issues. . This is what real leadership looks like. No more union stranglehold on education. No more out-of-control immigration straining our hospitals, schools, and roads. What do you think?

Do you support spending Millions of your property tax dollars to communicate and enforce PERMANENT outdoor watering restrictions? When over 20% of Calgary's water is lost due to leaks and poor infrastructure, why should Calgarians continue to be punished with restrictions and fines? I would much prefer this money be invested into upgrading our city-wide water infrastructure. Committee passed this proposed bylaw today, and it will be coming to Council for further debate later this month.

Center left federal governments (and often provincial as well) have never had any sense of fiscal responsibility. They learned early on that dangling the carrot of government assistance and programs would get them votes and with that a couple terms in parliament and a nice fat pension. They are like a teenager with their daddy's credit card who maxes it and instead of being made pay the money back daddy just ups the credit limit. Every time we vote back in a gov't that will not even try to balance the budget we give them carte blanche on spending and one thing gov'ts are great at is spending money. You and I both know Shane that you cant run a business for long in the red and often you need to make very hard decisions in lean times or go bankrupt. We make these decisions because we care about our employees and our customers. We have 1, 5, 10 and 20 year plans to ensure we survive and thrive. Politicians have 4 and 8 year plans: first 4 years do anything to get reelected, second four dont do anything to piss anyone off so you can retire with a full pension. The rub is I dont think there would be much of a change if the conservatives got in. I know this is a very cynical view but unfortunately no federal politicians are doing anything to change my mind.

Canada’s population is now shrinking as immigration slows, exposing deeper economic risks. Growth driven by temporary residents is reversing, while emigration rises and productivity lags. The shift highlights a fragile model reliant on population expansion over real economic gains—raising concerns for housing, labour markets, and long-term prosperity. ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/jack-mint…

My rule for tipping is if you have to serve yourself then no tip is warranted. If you sit and are served then a tip should given based on the quality of service and product(s). For example, we are a cocktail lounge with food but also a retail outlet for bottle sales. My staff are not allowed to put up the tip option if someone walks in from off the street to buy a bottle or at a farmers market. Tipping is only allowed for sit down customers.

🚨 67% of Canadians say ENOUGH with the tipping. Are we finally done pretending every coffee run needs a 20% “thanks for existing” fee? From Tim Hortons to the self-checkout screens… who else is exhausted? Drop your biggest tipping horror story below. Do you always tip?

Should Alberta have a Provincial Sales Tax? I’m a hard no but the topic did come up while discussing the Education portion of our Municipal Property Tax bill with NDP MLA Diana Batten on the Rob Snow Show yesterday.

Federal policy will never support Alberta's energy sector. The tragic irony of it is if they did it would benefit the entire country. Personally I've given up on Ottawa. Have you seen the new commercials running from the feds about how they are going to build a strong canada using our timber, steel and mining but no mention of oil and gas. An interesting omission...

Listening to Premier Danielle Smith on policies, partnerships, pipelines and what comes next. Alberta’s energy future isn’t just about moving molecules. It’s about competitiveness, certainty, and global relevance inside Canada. The question now: will federal policy let Alberta lead or hold it back?

I have to sign my 3 children’s lives, our cars, houses and bank accounts over to get bank funding for business investments or LOC’s. who knew we should have just been asking the government for 500 million just to lay off 1/3 of workforce this whole time. What a joke🤦🏻‍♂️
CTV Power Play@CTV_PowerPlay

WATCH: @VassyKapelos asks @AlgomaSteelInc CEO Michael Garcia whether the federal government and Government of Ontario knew layoffs were coming before they agreed to $500M in loan assistance. "Well, I think the government certainly knows our business strategy," he says. "I don't think anybody would loan the company half a billion dollars without asking very detailed questions about what our business plan was." #cdnpoli #ctvpp More: ctvnews.ca/video/shows/po…

Honestly, I’m furious. The “elbows-up crowd” cheered on the election of Mark Carney like some virtue badge for their TDS-ridden agenda, now what do we have? A Canada staring down a recession, vulnerable and crawling. All the bravado about choosing a “new era” leader while Carney’s policies leave our economy exposed. Don’t pretend this is leadership, it’s reckless. The only comfort they’re offering is the hollow kind, and we’re about to pay dearly. x.com/i/trending/198…
