So Amazon just shot 200+ satellites into space.
But let me tell you what this actually means, especially if you live in Ghana or Africa.
Amazon has a government deadline. The FCC told them to get 1,600 satellites up by July 2026 or lose their operating license. That is why launches are happening this fast.
Now what does this mean for us (Africa)
Starlink already entered Ghana in 2024.
And the moment it did, it started charging less than half of what our local ISPs charge.
So what happens when Amazon Leo arrives with the same model, backed by more money, more satellites, and the entire AWS cloud infrastructure behind it?
Your local ISP does not have the balance sheet to compete with Amazon. They can barely maintain their current infrastructure.
When two American giants start a price war over Africa’s internet market, African ISPs are not players in that fight.
They are the collateral.
The good news is prices will drop.
The real question is who will own the infrastructure your country runs on?
Both Starlink and Amazon Leo route your data through servers and ground stations they control, mostly outside Africa. That means your government, your hospitals, your banks, your schools, all depending on foreign pipes that a foreign government can switch off, slow down, or price however they want.
We will get cheaper internet, but we will just not own any of it.
One question is still pending, why are they rushing to own Africa’s internet? 🤔

For this rural community, access to clean and safe drinking water has become almost impossible. What should be a basic human necessity has turned into a daily struggle for survival, as families are forced to rely on stagnant pools and shallow pits for water. The water available to the community is not just unclean; it is heavily contaminated with sediment and untreated waste. Women and children travel long distances in search of water, only to return with visibly murky and unsafe sources because they have no other option. The situation has pushed the community into a dangerous reality where survival depends on consuming water that poses serious health risks. This neglect exposes residents to deadly waterborne diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid, and severe diarrhoea. These illnesses spread rapidly in communities without access to safe water and often have devastating consequences, especially for young children and the elderly. There are also serious long-term health concerns associated with consuming water from unprotected sources. Chemical contamination and runoff can gradually damage health over time. In addition, the physical burden of fetching water from distant locations takes a heavy toll on residents. Carrying heavy containers over long distances causes injuries and exhaustion, particularly among young people. The time spent searching for water also means fewer hours for school, farming, and other productive activities, affecting the wellbeing and development of the entire community. It is deeply troubling that in Benue State, widely known as the Food Basket of the Nation, communities are still struggling with such extreme water scarcity. The Benue State Government and the Obi Local Government Council must act urgently before the situation worsens. Immediate emergency relief through water tankers is needed to provide safe drinking water for the residents. In the long term, the construction of solar-powered industrial boreholes will provide a sustainable solution and restore dignity, health, and safety to the people of Okpokwu. No community should have to face the risk of illness or death simply because they lack access to clean water. Immediate action is necessary. #FixWaterCrisis @benuestategovt @FMWR_Nigeria @FMWRNigeria

Slavery ended not because the white man intended to free slaves but because machines were invented which did the work that slaves hitherto did, and keeping slaves became more expensive than using these machines.
So, if a time ever comes when human labour is required en masse to do jobs that machines cannot do, the white man would invade Africa again and enslave the continent. When that happens, we are nothing but sitting ducks.
Only the threat of mutually assured destruction can prevent this from happening. Which is why Africa must build núclear weàpons like the future of our continent depends on it, because it actually does.
It is better to build a weapon that we might never need than need them one day and not have them.
If we don’t, our children will ask what we did to protect their future.
