🦐 Movie night (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), with King Prawn Balti Curry. Garam masala, green/red peppers, roasted cashew nuts, tamarind, garlic + tomatoes. A cheat tandoori - raw prawns are added with the sauce and placed in a hot oven until they char a little on top.

Movie Night (The Third Man), with Chicken Schnitzels, Lemon and Sage. These are fillets, sliced horizontally and pleasingly bludgeoned. They’re dredged in flour, egg and panko breadcrumbs and gently fried in good butter mixed with a little oil - I dropped the sage in last minute.

Movie night (Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back), with Masala Lamb Chops. This is a handheld affair, so I have a thousand napkins. I’m having these with a bowl of skinny fries and a Kingfisher beer. #Lamb #Movies

Movie night, (The Last Emperor) with Leftover Chicken Ravioli, Mushrooms & Balsamic Brown Butter Sauce. Yesterday's chicken, minced with garlic, tarragon, S&P, and a little crème fraîche. The sauce is chicken stock, balsamic vinegar, a bucketful of butter and mushroom ketchup.

Movie Night (Gran Torino), with Breaded Mackerel and Miso Lemon Butter Sauce. The fishmonger didn’t have any samphire today, so I’ve unearthed some frozen asparagus from a corner of the freezer - it was blanched before freezing. Recipe for the sauce attached.

Movie night (Jaws) with Ramenesque Chicken and Noodles. This is a mongrel dish, if I’m honest - part katsu, part ramen and I’ve attached the recipe for the broth. It’s finished it off with a jammy egg, a few green chillies, fried mushrooms and Lao Gan Ma from a jar. #Chicken .

I’ve escaped for New Year - because, if I’m honest, 2025 can do one. I arrived in Marrakech yesterday and managed to get lost in about 20 minutes. Lovely vibe though and I’ll probably spend the next few days getting lost again. And buying tat I don’t even like.

A steady and careful walk today after my interventional radiology procedure. The new feeding tube is working well, and there is no NG tube or chest drain to contend with. I have my immunotherapy treatment on Monday, so a couple of days rest before going back to hospital.

Movie night (My Name is Joe), with Venison Curry and Green Masala Potatoes. Cracking haunch meat from a local butcher, marinated in oil, ground fennel seeds, Kashmiri chilli powder and ground cardamom then seared in a ferociously hot pan for a few minutes. More on m’Insta.

Movie night (Voyage to Italy, with Ingrid Bergman) and Pappardelle with Mushrooms. It’s really simple - finely chopped shallots, chicken stock, a measure of brandy your doctor would frown at, a couple of crushed garlic cloves, plenty black pepper, crème fraîche & grated parmesan.

It's hard to believe that a few weeks ago, I was in Critical Care on a ventilator with my heart, kidneys & liver failing. Now, I've just managed a litter pick. I had to stop after one bag as I'm not strong enough yet, but at least I've done something to help keep the area tidier.
