I did not say that God does not know who His own people are, or that He lost track of Israel, or that He is "gathering back the wrong jews." I did not even imply it. I agree that God is sovereign, and that he is not dependent on man to identify the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that He will fulfill every promise He has made concerning them. Let me articulate my question better, with some context. I hope you don't mind long responses: --- First of all, obviously, "all Israel" is the kingdom comprised of twelve or thirteen (depending on how you view the split of Joseph) different tribes. For clarity's sake, I'll refer only to the twelve, combining Manasses and Ephraim into just Joseph. After King Solomon's reign, the Kingdom of Israel was split into two - the northern Kingdom of Israel, comprised of ten tribes (Reuben, Simeon, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher and Joseph), and the southern Kingdom of Judah, comprised of two tribes (Judah and Benjamin), with the Levites scattered through both. This happened in ~930 B.C. Prophecy refers to these two groups as Israel and Judah. Then, in ~722 B.C., King Salmanasar V of Assyria conquered Samaria, and carried Israel away, placing them in Hala and Habor by the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes. He also brought people from Babylon, Cutha, Avah, Emath, and Sepharvaim, and placed them in Samaria in the stead of the children of Israel. See 2 Kings 17, specifically verses 6, 18, 24. However, they were not the only ones who were taken. In 701 B.C., King Sennacherib came up against the fenced cities of Judah, and took them. See 2 Kings 18:13, 2 Chronicles 32:1, Isaiah 36:1. The only city that was spared was Jerusalem, through divine intervention. See 2 Kings 19:32-37, 2 Chronicles 32:21-22, Isaiah 37:33-38. According to the Annals of Sennacherib, they took 46 fortified cities and countless smaller settlements, and carried away 200,150 from the Kingdom of Judah, placing them also in Mesopotamia and Media (the same location as the ten northern tribes). So, that is what I was referring to when I said a large number, frankly, a vast majority of the physical descendants of Jacob are unaccounted for. ALL northern tribes, and ALL southern tribes - with the only significant exception being the portion left in Jerusalem - hundreds of thousands, if not a million or more people, were taken by the Assyrians and placed in a region south of the Caucasus (see image attached), "removed from God's sight." --- Now, you and I both know and can agree on the fact that this can not have been the end for those children of Israel and Judah, as God promised their salvation and restoration through many prophets. Hosea, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Zechariah, Jeremiah, and more. In the New Covenant writings, Paul writes, quoting Isaiah 59:20-21 specifically, but referencing all the other ones implicitly (Isaiah 11:12, Jeremiah 31:31, 50:4-5, Ezekiel 37:16-19, Hosea 1:10-11, Zachariah 8:13): <26> And so all Israel should be saved, as it is written: There shall come out of Sion, he that shall deliver, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. <27> And this is to them my covenant: when I shall take away their sins. Romans 11:26-27 (DRA) So, I ask you. If "all Israel" includes these Israelites who were carried away, where are they now? If you don't know, tell me, and I can help answer that question for you. Apologies for the long reply, but, I felt it necessary to explain the context properly, as when I try to do it in a more concise manner, people frequently misunderstand me.

Who is "all Israel" to you? Does it include the physical descendants of Jacob who have gone unaccounted for, for 2,700 years?
