Thought experiment: Retroactively applying ABS to Greg Maddux’s career gives him like a 4.95 ERA and basically makes him Steve Trachsel Maddux received the benefit of a gigantic zone thanks to his impeccable command, reputation, and stature as a bona fide ace pitcher
Mike in the Mountains@huskercspackler

@notgaetti all the pitchers from here on out will be judged for the hall of fame by a computer for balls and strikes. What if we went back & recorded all pitches in history withbthe computer. Greg Maddox would shit a brick

The problem with baseball is that analysts & MLB push this narrative of “filthy stuff” and exit velos and 450 ft HRs, etc. How about results? FYI, this single pitch might be great but Chandler gave up 3 ER, 5H, and 4BB in 4.1 IP and left the game with his team down 3-0. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Marcell Ozuna is 2-31 with 8K and a .236 OPS. But @TheCUTCH22 wasn’t worth 1/10th of what Ozuna was signed for… got it. #LetsGoBucs

Brian Giles, who along with Jason Kendall will throw the first pitch today, is the most underappreciated Pirate in recent history. His numbers with the #Pirates: .308/.426/.591—1.018. OPS, OBP, slugging are the best in team history. HR/AB: 15.4 (second to Kiner).

I’ve probably posted this like 5 times but this is genuinely the worst lineup I’ve ever seen.

@JRown32 Couldn’t agree more. Between this nonsense and the way he has handled Skenes in his first two games, not a Don Kelly fan *at all*

What are Don Kelly and the @Pirates even doing? 5 IP, 77 pitches after pitching 37 pitches a week ago? Skenes is going to start getting pissed off and I won’t blame him one bit! #LetsGoBucs

Opening Day Trivia... I never knew this until today! In 1949, Boston Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey and Yankees GM Larry MacPhail verbally agreed to trade DiMaggio for Ted Williams, but MacPhail refused to include Yogi Berra.

@CodifyBaseball What I didn’t understand from watching the actual game is why didn’t the Braves’ hitters adjust….and I know they were balls, but he was calling EVERYTHING

Let's just say that Game 5 of the 1997 NLCS would have been a bit different with an ABS Challenge System.

Happy Opening Day! To celebrate, here is a totally random, weird piece of trivia: Ryan Mountcastle and Gregg Jefferies have received Rookie of the Year votes in two separate seasons because they maintained their rookie eligibility across multiple call-ups.
