I DON’T WALK AWAY TO TEACH PEOPLE A LESSON. I WALK AWAY BECAUSE I LEARNT MINE. 🔥‼️ There’s a version of walking away that’s performative. It’s calculated. It’s done with one eye looking back, hoping they notice, hoping they chase, hoping the silence becomes loud enough to make them feel something. That’s not healing. That’s manipulation dressed in self-respect. But then there’s the other kind. The kind where you finally stop negotiating with what’s already been made clear. Where you’re not punishing them, you’re protecting yourself. Where the exit isn’t a statement, it’s a conclusion. You’ve processed the evidence, received the verdict and decided to stop appealing a case that was never going to rule in your favour. That’s the walk I know. I’ve been the person who stayed too long. Gave too many second chances that were really just first chances dressed up in familiar clothes. Mistook consistency for loyalty and availability for love. I sat in rooms where I was tolerated, not treasured and I told myself the discomfort was growth. It wasn’t growth. It was erasure. So when I walk away now, it’s not because I want you to miss me. It’s because I finally stopped missing a version of you that probably never existed. You didn’t lose a lesson. I found one. And unlike most lessons in life, this one cost enough that I refuse to repeat the course. Walking away quietly is not weakness. It’s the loudest thing a self-aware person can do.
