Best ways to test system functionality. Next week's topic will be listed at the end. Testing system functionality is a crucial step in software development and engineering processes. It ensures that a system or software application performs as expected, meets user requirements, and operates reliably. Here we delve into the best ways: 1. Unit Testing: Ensures individual code components work correctly in isolation. 2. Integration Testing: Verifies that different system parts function seamlessly together. 3. System Testing: Assesses the entire system's compliance with user requirements and performance. 4. Load Testing: Tests a system's ability to handle high workloads and identifies performance issues. 5. Error Testing: Evaluates how the software handles invalid inputs and error conditions. 6. Test Automation: Automates test case execution for efficiency, repeatability, and error reduction. Over to you: How do you approach testing system functionality in your software development or engineering projects? Over to you: what's your company's release process look like? โ€“ Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to get a Free System Design PDF (158 pages): bit.ly/3KCnWXq

Big Endian vs Little Endian Microprocessor architectures commonly use two different methods to store the individual bytes in memory. This difference is referred to as โ€œbyte orderingโ€ or โ€œendian natureโ€. ๐Ÿ”น Little Endian Intel x86 processors store a two-byte integer with the least significant byte first, followed by the most significant byte. This is called little-endian byte ordering. ๐Ÿ”น Big Endian In big endian byte order, the most significant byte is stored at the lowest memory address, and the least significant byte is stored at the highest memory address. Older PowerPC and Motorola 68k architectures, often use big endian. In network communications and file storage, we also use big endian. The byte ordering becomes significant when data is transferred between systems or processed by systems with different endianness. It's important to handle byte order correctly to interpret data consistently across diverse systems. โ€“ Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to get a Free System Design PDF (158 pages): bit.ly/3KCnWXq

Different backgrounds, opinions, and work styles led to disagreements. While disputes are perceived negatively, they can be catalysts for growth, innovation, and strengthened relationships, provided they are managed effectively. Understanding conflict dynamics and navigating through them is crucial for any successful team. Conflicts can be categorized into two main types: ๐Ÿ”น ๐—ง๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ธ-๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜๐˜€ arise from differences in work methods, priorities, or expectations. ๐Ÿ”น ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ-๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜๐˜€: These conflicts stem from personal issues, communication breakdowns, or clashes in values. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐—ž๐—ถ๐—น๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ป ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—น provides insight into conflict situations and how to work through them. This model offers a framework to understand and resolve conflicts effectively. It categorizes conflict-handling behaviors into five distinct modes, each representing different levels of assertiveness and cooperativeness: ๐Ÿญ. ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด: Here, you rank your interests. It aims for solutions that offer partial satisfaction to all involved. (moderate emphasis and cooperativeness) ๐Ÿฐ. ๐—”๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด: You sidestep the conflict, which is useful when the issue is trivial or more information is needed.
