The books didn't adjust for Mohamed Diawara's usage with Josh Hart OUT, and we took advantage last night. Diawara has seen two starts this season, both with Hart out. There was no reason to expect that to change in this game based on what Mike Brown said post-game: "Mo hadn't played a lot of minutes this year, but played over 16. He was really good in those minutes, especially starting the game for us." With Mitch Rob also being out, the Knicks needed size, so a minutes floor of 18-20 was reasonable for the 6'9'' 20-year-old 2025 2nd round draft pick. In those two starts, he has averaged 6 FGA, clearing his 5-point line both times in just under 20 minutes. The Pelicans' defense has been rough all season, and with the attention on Brunson and KAT, there was an opportunity for Diawara here, especially from behind the arc and in the paint, where Diawara gets 88% of his production, and the Pelicans struggle the most. The main play was the straight, but the odds on the ladder with his minute floor and possible shot volume increase was just too great to ignore.
