The Silent Sabotage of the Protector Parent. I’m going to say what every college recruiter and high school coach says behind closed doors. You are loving your kid straight onto the bench. We’ve created a culture where parents have become Shields. The moment things get hard the moment the coach is tough, the umpire is bad, or the kid is struggling the parent jumps in to protect them from the discomfort. But you aren't protecting them. You’re weakening them. The 3 Lefts Hard Truths: • The Car Ride Home. This is where careers go to die. If the first thing out of your mouth after a game is a complaint about the coach’s lineup or the umpire’s zone you just gave your son a Get Out of Jail Free card. You taught him that his failure wasn't his fault. You just traded his development for a moment of comfort. • The Advocacy Trap. If you’re calling the coach to ask why your son isn't playing you’ve already lost. If your son isn't man enough to walk into my office or dugout and ask Coach “what do I need to do to get on the field?" he isn't man enough to handle the pressure of the 7th inning. You’re solving his problems and in doing so you're making him powerless. • The Comfort Addiction Growth only happens in the Ugly Zone. It happens when it’s unfair. It happens when it hurts. When you smooth out every bump in the road you’re sending a boy into a man’s game with no calluses on his soul. Stop being a Lawnmower Parent clearing the path. Start being a Compass and point them toward the struggle. The best gift you can give your son isn't a new $500 bat it’s the permission to fail, the space to own it, and the silence to figure it out on his own. Build the player. Stop protecting the ego. Own the standard. #3LeftsBaseball #CoachBigMike

I will not lower the standard for your son. I will not play players who do not do what they have been coached to do. It will not get easier, your son will get tougher. & Yes i do have favorites, my favorites are the players who do what I ask them to do. #EFFORT

If I heard correctly, Clovis West scored 4 in the 7th and beat Clovis 11-10, so Buchanan alone atop the TRAC at 7-3.
Pitching depth a major issue in the TRAC. I don’t ever remember it being like this.

Quick rant on baseball parents.
I was just watching a high-level Michigan high school baseball game when an elite player decided to spray some stick on his bat in between pitches and some got on the barrel.
Parents from the opposing team start chirping and complaining that it’s cheating and against the rules — one parent even decided to look up the rule. If that wasn’t embarrassing enough, that man decided to say it out loud and let everyone know he looked up the technicality.
The batter walks anyway and comes around to score, but to me the bigger issue is this lack of awareness and accountability.
I coach kids everyday now and when I ask them how they did this weekend and they answer with: “the umpire was so bad” “it was so cold” etc etc as their FIRST responses— I see that as a direct result of what we’re teaching kids about competition.
Competition isn’t about finding technicalities to beat our opponent, and the weather and umpires are ALWAYS going to be variables you cannot control.
I think we need to start teaching kids about the reality of winning and losing and it starts with coaches and parents.
Sometimes your opponent is going to be better, strong, more skilled than you but you have to find a way to compete anyways.
Thats what true resiliency is, and what makes us athletes. 🤷🏻♂️

Parents, I promise you this: Whatever gossip, drama and opinions you’re living in right now with other parents about your kids, the coaches or the team, it’s so unimportant in the long run and the grand scheme of things. Change your attitude Change your outlook Change your negativity Because you’ll look back when it’s all over and regret that you didn’t just sit back and enjoy watching them grow up and mature while ⚾️ taught them solid life lessons! #BaseballTruth
