@TheNintendoGoof Nintendo does treat their employees very well! I’m not sure about “no crunch” though considering the amount of overtime. They have very high expectations and the average person would struggle there, but good for those who are highly capable and like to be challenged.

It doesn't get mentioned enough how well Nintendo treats their employees. They have great pay & benefits, little to no crunch and very very low turnover rates. Everyone calls Nintendo super evil because they are not afraid to be honest that they're a business instead of pretending to be your friend like the other two. I've even heard people say Nintendo is 'the worse of the big three' Yet you very rarely see Nintendo laying off thousands of employees like the other two.

@UnseenJapanSite I get nervous when I’m walking around a group of people with umbrellas because of how often I get hit in the face by them/have had to dodge them cuz they’re not paying attention, but really the solution here is to teach the kids to be mindful. It’s too hot now to ban them.

As the summer beats down on Japan, more kids are using sun umbrellas to protect themselves. However, some schools are banning them on the grounds that they block one's sight & use of one's hands and thus are "dangerous." A few parents also oppose the trend.

Once again extolling the virtues of the Green Car on the JR line - if you’re going to Kamakura or even just to Yokohama, it’s so comfortable, convenient and cheap (I wish this were an ad) The interior is just like a limited express, but you can’t reserve seats in advance.

@UnseenJapanSite Seems like there needs to be a solution to make it easier for tourists to dispose of suitcases. It’s already a pain if you live here, but for foreign tourists it must be nearly impossible to navigate the large item disposal system.

Another tourism problem is plaguing Osaka: people's abandoned suitcases. Tourists are leaving their broken and busted-down suitcases in hotels and on streets. Kansai International Airport had 816 cases of abandoned suitcases in 2024, up 100+ cases from 2019.

@marvinprd @UnseenJapanSite Tokyo/others cities are good, but there are still tourist places that are difficult/impossible to reach without a car.

@UnseenJapanSite Tourists are only there for a max of 90 days I think. Japan public transportation is so good you dont need to drive.

@TAHK0 @ArikGenerick Japan’s prices aren’t any lower. It’s just looks lower when converting due to the overly depreciated yen. If you use the exchange rate from a few years ago, you’ll see that the region locked Switch here is just as expensive as other places. (Although let’s not forget inflation)

@PiranhaPlant22 @breath0air It’s not cheaper. It’s 1.25x the price of a Switch here, it’s just a normal price. it’s just that the yen is so depreciated it looks less expensive when converting right now. The “global version” is the price of a PS5 lol

@breath0air Disappointed, confused. I don't like the prices of the games. I don't like that I can't preorder the system. Seeing more Switch 1 games on the incompatible list than I expected. Japan is getting a cheaper version of the system with Japanese language only which is interesting.

@mrjeffu I will say though at least the Japanese people I know in real life have been sympathetic. A lot of the negativity seems to be coming from misogynists from the internet right (tbc I think she was in the wrong for scamming but didn’t deserve to be stabbed)
